This is a wonderful village church, it has a leaning tower, which is at a more acute angle than the Tower of Pisa, also it has the only bell in the UK that vertically is hung outside of the church footings.
Worth a visit, and immediately adjacent is the Fraiser Rooms, which is an old school house and has its own astounding history.
The Reverend of the Church is a perfect gentleman and has time to talk.

Leaning tower but a warm welcome

We attended morning service and were made most welcome. A friendly vicar and congregation with tea and cake after the service

Leaning Spire of St Lawrence
Feb 2017 • Family
Pleasant little church with a very quirky leaning spire. Very quiet and contemplative grounds. Some of the graves were very old and had a wealth of history.

Flower Festival
Apr 2016 • Couples
This Church is involved in the South Hoyland Flower Festival and is the place to stop at lunch time. The Church is full of history, and has a leaning tower. During the flower festival you can see Ladies spinning and crocheting, and admire the delicacy of their work. The Church was decorated with flowers of all hues and colours.during the flower festival this is a good place to buy spring plants for the garden. The church hall next door does a range of meals during the flower festival that are the best for miles around, with a choice of hot or cold. You need to be patient though as this venue is very busy.

I love this Church
May 2016 • Couples
This Church is so quirky. It looks strange from the outside as it leans to one side. However, inside is lovely and the April Flower Festival always brings out the best - proper Church music is played and the volunteers are always pleasant and helpful. Well worth a visit.

Pretty little church
Jul 2015 • Friends
Pretty little Church. Friend had their wedding and it was a lovely little spot. Quite . inside looked well kept and clean. Cars park along the road but as its a quite back road no worries. Only a short walk to the centre of the village. 1min. Has Loo's in the church hall at the back I think.

Beautiful
Jan 2016 • Couples
This is a remarkable church not least because of its leaning tower. It's location next to the river gives it a beautiful setting. Very often people drive out to Surfleet Reservoir which is lovely and one of the best drives in the area. I would recommend stopping off and looking in its a lovely church. It's also particularly lovely at Flower Festival time.

Worth stopping at this gem of a place...

Were it not for the leaning spire, I may not have swerved off the main road last minute and parked beside this historic and interesting parish church. There was no-one to greet me but the church felt welcoming as it is beautifully kept and exhibited the careful ministrations of a dedicated congregation. It is not possible to detail all the felicities of the church, as these are all concisely explained in an excellent fully illustrated guide to the church for only £1.50. The parts that stood out, for me, were the beauty of the exterior with fine detailed stonework for such a small church, the number of bells in the peal, the buttressed pillars at the west end of the nave, the impressive Millennium Window (with its symbolic palm and flame design) and the delightful Last Supper behind the High Altar. Whilst slightly disappointed not to find any postcards, I took some photos of the exterior and left for Spalding happy that this lovely parish church was open to all and clearly in safe hands.

By the way, according to the guide book, the spire is 6’ 4½” out of perpendicular. You have to see it to believe it.
