Nice view to take photos with the colorful bathing boxes and the kids enjoys it a lot. there are better swimming beaches close by though.

small parking area and lots of big vans/buses around that covers the parking signs. BEWARE and make sure to pay the parking otherwise parking ranger will FLAG you. easily $83 on a money grab from the council. 12 apostles is much bigger attraction and no parking fee needed.

The Brighton Bathing Boxes are colourful and attract many visitors. The Boxes are often passed down thrrough the generations. Brighton is one of Melbourne's most prosperous ssuburbs, "Brighton people" love their boxes. While getting access to the boxes may be difficult, anyone can swim at the beach. Brighton Beach is one of Melboune's best suburban beaches.

A quirky Melbourne icon that is definitely worth a visit if you have spare time. The colourful bathing boxes are a popular photo opportunity. Just be aware that they are much treasured family heirlooms or investments and are used frequently by their owners during summer.

Nearby are many excellent eateries and bars.

TIP: you can catch the Sandringham Train line from city and get off at Middle Brighton Station (this line isn’t as packed as others). Than walk 1.1kms

The Brighton Bathing Boxes are one of Melbourne's most endearing attractioons. The Bathing Boxes are privately owned, and are often handed down within a family. They often change hands for astronomical amounts when they come on the market, The Bathing Boxes are located on Brighton Beach, which is a public beach. Brighton is one of Melbourne's most affluent suburbs. The Bathing Boxes are brightly coloured; while you can't enter them, they make great selfies.

The Brighton Bathing Boxes are mainly used by local residents, mainly during summer, to change, store their towels and so on. Most are brightly coloured and make good photos. The Bathing Boxes are not very large, but they are quite expensive. It's quite a sign of success to say "meet you at the box."

The biggest mistake of my trip to Australia was that I went to Brighton Beach and didn't take any photos. I've known about this attraction for a long time but there was something about that February day that just happened to be overcast. I got to Brighton Beach, saw the bathing boxes, and didn't even think to take a photo. But I digress... even though they didn't wow me that day, the contrast and colors, I presume, would make for some great shots! Just don't be like me, alright?

I really wanted to visit the bathing boxes before we left Melbourne so we went on our last morning. We were a little worried about timing for getting to the airport etc. and it took longer than anticipated to walk and find the beach from the train station so our visit felt a bit rushed and I realise now that we missed a lot of the bathing boxes as I hadn't realised just how far they stretch along the beach. Very colourful and varied designs. Of course I had to get a picture with the Australian flag designed box. Very busy with tourists as can be expected. If I have enough time on my hands the next time I (hopefully) visit Melbourne, I'll pay another visit and leave a good couple of hours to stroll and take my time taking pictures.

Brighton's bathing boxes are a much-loved feature of this up-market suburb. At first, these narrow boxes were intended to preserve the modesty of female bathers. These days, the boxes are often handed down from one generation to the next. Now, with spring in the air, the boxes will be getting a tidy up and maybe a new coat of bright paint. As the locals say "see you at the box!"

Getting here involves an uncomfortable walk across sand that is absolutely covered in shells, but it is definitely worth it to get some good photos. If you're visiting here purely for photography, make sure to come early to avoid getting lots of people in your shots. I arrived around 10:30 and there were already a few groups of people around. You can also get some good shots of the Melbourne skyline from here.
