About
Hardie Park is a community led family park and open green space. Local residents took ownership after a period of neglect with the guidance of local resident Rob Groves in order to develop and enhance the area for the benefit of the local community. Friends of Hardie Park are a Registered Charity and Community Interest Company and a not-for-profit organisation. Over a period of years the site has developed enormously and is now run by our Board of Trustees (since Oct 2020) with a passionate team of staff and volunteers. The site is open 7 days a week and provides a cafe, toilets, play facility, skate park, zip line, Petanque Terrain, BMX track and a varied events programme. The project also collects surplus supermarket food from local stores daily and runs a pop-up facility between 11-3 for the local community. The cafe is also used as a base for many groups and clubs to meet. Hardie Park Registered charity number 1172078

The volunteers are so great they work so hard and are a critical park of our community. Great with the kids and really are a credit to Hardie park. The bounce days and events are amazing and great for family’s to attend. It still has a little way to go in terms of play equipment but all the same what an amazing place it is and what a caring community we have

Not having been in the area for some years I was astonished at the transformation of Hardie Park. It has become a lovely little community centre with facilities for both children and adults. A well kept play area for the children and a cafe selling hot food, tea, coffee and ice cream with comfortable seating both inside and out.
Well worth a visit.

I had not visited for a few years, and to see what has happened is absolutely outstanding to say the least. So many things for the children to do. The hub is a fantastic place to visit for a coffee or otherwise ( must say our coffee was excellent). Food available if you wish.
A wonderful bicycle shed next door, making up and refurbishing bicycles for sale.
An absolute gem and not to be missed.
Managing all Covid restrictions really well.
Highly recommend you pop along.

A lovely sense of community hits you as you enter the park, the fact that it is run by volunteers is amazing and is far and above what I expected.
The playground is great, with a large field too and skate park. The cafe was nice, although not much room between tables. The only real negative was that there were some grown men, having a very loud conversation, one of whom used a lot of profanity, wouldn't bother me that much but with our three year old with us it kind of spoiled the time there.
Parking was very difficult although we were lucky, probably wouldn't go back as it's quite far for us but worth it if local.

Short description
A superb local park with Cafe, toilets, great play equipment and a brand new Skatepark (June 2016)
Long description
Run entirely by the local community, Hardie Park is the best park in Thurrock!
We run a cafe and training centre with the help of dozens of volunteers.
The cafe is open 7 days per week from 10-4pm (unless otherwise notified) and toilets are available to use whenever the building is open.
We sell a wide range of Cafe food, drinks, Italian coffee, snacks and of course, Rossi Ice Cream!
A few local people who use Hardie Park want to gather more people together to imagine a transformed park that the whole community can be proud of. The aim would be to work towards Green Flag status!
We're working towards a lottery application for approx £400k, consulting with the community and park users especially young people.
In the next few months we will need to raise about £20,000 - if you have ideas of how we can achieve this let us know!
