About
Hardie Park is a community led family park and open green space. Local residents took ownership after a period of neglect with the guidance of local resident Rob Groves in order to develop and enhance the area for the benefit of the local community. Friends of Hardie Park are a Registered Charity and Community Interest Company and a not-for-profit organisation. Over a period of years the site has developed enormously and is now run by our Board of Trustees (since Oct 2020) with a passionate team of staff and volunteers. The site is open 7 days a week and provides a cafe, toilets, play facility, skate park, zip line, Petanque Terrain, BMX track and a varied events programme. The project also collects surplus supermarket food from local stores daily and runs a pop-up facility between 11-3 for the local community. The cafe is also used as a base for many groups and clubs to meet. Hardie Park Registered charity number 1172078

Not having been in the area for some years I was astonished at the transformation of Hardie Park. It has become a lovely little community centre with facilities for both children and adults. A well kept play area for the children and a cafe selling hot food, tea, coffee and ice cream with comfortable seating both inside and out.
Well worth a visit.

I had not visited for a few years, and to see what has happened is absolutely outstanding to say the least. So many things for the children to do. The hub is a fantastic place to visit for a coffee or otherwise ( must say our coffee was excellent). Food available if you wish.
A wonderful bicycle shed next door, making up and refurbishing bicycles for sale.
An absolute gem and not to be missed.
Managing all Covid restrictions really well.
Highly recommend you pop along.

This is an amazing park. We go here as much as we can. But we find there is limited car parking. And we arent in walking distance. My four year old loves it. And the cafe is lovely too.

I do scootering and I come up here from southend to do tricks, and I’ve had so many good days here, however I’ve had encounters with someone trying to mug me, three times, by the same Individual, just want everyone to be careful, he is around 18 years old and quite short standing around 5 foot 5 and what he does is asks for your scooter/skateboard/bike and tells you he won’t do anything to it then he’ll refuse to give it back, and threaten you if you try to get it back and start insulting you, also there are a lot of children who run around the skatepark when there is a play area right near by. Other than that it’s a good park, but I will have to give it a three star due to the fact I almost lost my scooter and phone to a lowlife thug there who seems to be able to roam free without getting banned

This is a lovely little park that has been improved by a lovely group of volunteers.
They have completely renovated the whole site, and also added a café with toilets.
The site also has a wonderful skateboard ramp used by all ages with boards, scooters, bikes etc.
I take my grandchildren here during the week, but I also attend the numerous fundraising event days as a stall holder.
There's not much parking next to park but there is a large car park within 5 mins walk.

The people who have done up the park have done a brilliant job. Perfect for little ones as well as older kids and a nice café for the mums to get a cup of tea whilst watching the kids play.

I understand a group of local residents decided to 'revamp' the park. They succeeded. The entrance has upcycled painted tyres filled with colourful plants either side of the path. There’s a skateboard/bike ramp for the older children; a zip wire, plenty of open space and other apparatus for the children. There’s even a cafe.

Visit the park very frequently usually with our dog, sometimes with our grandson. The play equipment is very good for children of I would say 3 to 10 years old. For the older children if they want the purpose built skateboard/scooter is amazing.
I can recommend the Cafe any higher as the food & drinks are very reasonably priced and of good quality.

Lovely cafe set in family park created by volunteers. Lots of things for little ones to play on and a skateboard ramp for the older ones. Lovely coffee and food available including cream teas. Great selection of Rossi ice cream which must be tried!! Well done to everyone involved.

The café has the feel of being the hub of the community, providing great food, opportunities for disadvantaged and vulnerable people to build self-confidence through work, a friendly meeting place, regular activities and workshops, and daily offers to alleviate local poverty. High recommended.

Short description
A superb local park with Cafe, toilets, great play equipment and a brand new Skatepark (June 2016)
Long description
Run entirely by the local community, Hardie Park is the best park in Thurrock!
We run a cafe and training centre with the help of dozens of volunteers.
The cafe is open 7 days per week from 10-4pm (unless otherwise notified) and toilets are available to use whenever the building is open.
We sell a wide range of Cafe food, drinks, Italian coffee, snacks and of course, Rossi Ice Cream!
A few local people who use Hardie Park want to gather more people together to imagine a transformed park that the whole community can be proud of. The aim would be to work towards Green Flag status!
We're working towards a lottery application for approx £400k, consulting with the community and park users especially young people.
In the next few months we will need to raise about £20,000 - if you have ideas of how we can achieve this let us know!
