About Ficus Trails
Ficus Trails protects an important part of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Corridor known as "Puente de Vida," (Bridge of Life), an exuberant key piece of forest located in the heart of the Monteverde community founded in April 19th, 1951 by Quakers from Fairhope, Alabama. The moisture deposited high on the Pacific slope near the Continental Divide in the form of mist and the topography of the area influence Ficus Trails in such a way that a remarkable diversity of flora and fauna can be found in this cloud forest. Climb our hollow trees and enjoy their amazing natural history. Ficus Trails offers each adventurous visitor an overwhelming wilderness experience with no age limit. Ficus Trails is home to over 400 species of birds, dozens of reptiles & amphibians and over 130 mammal species, not to mention the large diversity of trees, plants and fungi. An observation deck allows the visitor to enjoy the majesty of the cloud forest from a total different angle like nowhere else. Watch the Continental Divide covered with clouds and the impressive San Luis waterfall that will become the large Guacimal River as you follow its path down to a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. Take this journey with our professional naturalist guides and you'll come face to face with one of the greatest forces you've ever encountered, Nature. Discover fascinating facts about the cloud forest and surprising insights about its wildlife on day and at night time. Live great moments and photograph unique sights. Two worlds apart separated by light that will trigger all your senses.

We had a bird-watching tour with Olman and it was absolutely amazing! Even though we were a bit unlucky with the weather, we managed to spot and identify lots of species in Monteverde area and then found a Quetzal in the rainforest. Olman is very knowledgable with the birds and could easily identify them for us (also via their sounds). We also managed to take photos via the scope. All in all it was a great experience!

Olman was an excellent and extremely passionate guide who made our tour super enjoyable. We had a great time exploring the forest with him as he pointed out all sorts of animals, including a family of coatis, tarantulas, frogs, an armadillo, a toucan, a woolly opossum, and all sorts of insects, including leaf-cutter ants. He used his telescope to get us closer views of the animals as well as take many impressive photos. Olman is incredibly knowledgeable about the animals and plants in the area and we learned a lot from him; he loves when you ask questions and want to learn more :) Our group consisted of both Spanish and English speakers and he did a wonderful job of explaining and translating for everyone. Overall this was an incredible experience and we can't thank Olman enough!

The guides were friendly and ours spoke English very well. He found frogs and spiders and a Kinkaju climbing in the trees. We saw a see through frog and a glow in the dark scorpion and topped it off with a tarantula! Terrific.

This tour was amazing! I was lucky enough to have a tour just me and Olman and he was great. So interesting and with so much knowledge of the species in the area. Learnt a lot and everything I wanted to see he found for me! I definitely recommend if you are in Monteverde. Highlights were tarantulas eating small bugs, mating frogs, a possum, and a sloth!

Olman is a professional and friendly guide, we observed poisonous frogs, snakes and some nocturnal mammals, the tour is amazing and they offered us roundtrip transportation from the hotel where we stayed.
