Having done all of the zip line tours in Monteverde this one stands out for two reasons:
1) The zip lines are much more focused on seeing the actual canopy, more than just a mass produced adrenaline rush. If you want to see the canopy...More
We embarked on this trail soon after our arrival but having no guide to explain what we were looking at/for made the whole experience a bit of a disappointment. It is a great walk to go on, but make sure you are either genned up...More
We were so glad we did this walk. We had already done the hanging bridges at Mistico Park in La Fortuna. These bridges actually take you above the canopy and you really do feel like you are walking through the clouds. We did see a...More
Just got back from a tour of Costa Rica and this was one of our optional activities. I chose the Zipline tour which was amazing. The guides were terrific, very organized and ensured the safety of everyone in our group. I highly recommend doing the...More
Our family selected the Gold Package with Canopy (zip line) and Hanging Bridges and we were quite happy with our selection. If possible, try for earlier in the day as we missed out on the art gallery when it closed mid-afternoon, once we were finished...More
I’m travelling solo for the first time and terrified of heights - the whole team of guys on the zip lines were fantastic - personable, friendly and fun! Tarzan swing is a must. Food was fantastic snd service at the restaurant was great and personable....More
We did the Selvatura Park zip line and hanging bridge experience. First and foremost, we had a super-fun time. The zip lines were fun, the scenery views were spectacular, the staff was very friendly, helpful and I felt safe the whole time. They keep the...More
The unique cloud forest micro-climate, among which Monteverde is one of few in North America (Alaska and Jamaica also have them) is one of my favorite reasons for multiple repeat visits to Costa Rica.
Here, cloud cover literally touches the unique canopy of the forest...More

We did all of our planning through a travel agent several months in advance. My wife and I went the week of Thanksgiving 2018. If you know you are going there I would go ahead and book it. Pay the extra cost for a guide if you do the rain forest tour, if you don't your are just wasting your money. Our guide was fantastic and added so much information about the rain forest. (Don't pay in avance for the hummingbird garden, our guide let us in free at the end of our tour. And definitely go, you will enjoy.)If you are still in the planning stages I HIGHLY recommend contacting Pacific Trade Winds. They are located in Costa Rica and I think they only arrange trips in Costa Rica. They arrange the trip you want not a pre-packaged tour. NO cost to you and their prices are as good as I could have gotten arranging each activity by myself. If you are staying in Monte Verde look at Casa Batsu B&B. Fantastic accomadations, breakfast and management.

Hi! Indeed you will find our restrooms at the main facility. Still a little planning in advance will not make this a problem. The bridge walk is 3 kms in length so a visit to the restrooms before taking off should be enough... More

I'm basically a wimp, but would like to try a canopy/zip-line @ Selvatura in Monteverde. Is it very scary? How fast do you go? Thanks for all feed back and your experiences.

We just did the Selvatura zip line on March 4th, my 59th birthday. I was really nervous about it and agognized for months, but finally made up my mind to just do it. I am not usually adventurous and am afraid of heights (just look straight out, not down), but when I saw the guide do a demonstration, I realized that he looked very secure in the harness. You do go pretty fast, but it was fun (I can't believe I said that). There is quite a bit of walking uphill involved and also walking up to...More
Sky Trek vs Selvatura for ZipLines (5 Replies)
We are booking a trip to Costa Rica in June and we are planning on going to Monteverde to do the ziplines. We are thinking about booking with anywherecostarica, and I had 2 questions 1) THey offer zip line trips with both Sky Trek and Selvatura. What is the difference between the two companies? Is one better than another? I am kinda of nervous about going ziplining, so I want to make sure I pick the right place. 2) Looking for feedback on booking trips with anywherecostarica.com.
Hello! My husband and I are taking our first trip to Costa Rica at the end of January and have only two short nights in Monteverde. We have plans already lined up to take a Night Tour at the Refugio de Vida Silvestre Monteverde. And we will be spending half a day at Selvatura walking their hanging bridges and zip lining. I have read so many wonderful things about the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. I would love any opinions on whether or not we should also included a guided tour of...More

Personally I would try to maximize my time in Monteverde, as it is so time consuming to even come there. So yes, do an early morning tour of Monteverde Cloud Forest Resrve. Get a private guide as that will increase the possibility of spotting that elusive bird. And, the guide will also know if there are other places, better for spotting quetzal.
