We produce our own "bean to bar" chocolate in our Umpa-Lumpa-sized Monteverde chocolate factory. We are now offering a chocolate tour that demonstrates the entire process- how we select beans, and then roast and grind them to produce our "artesanal" chocolate that rivals the finest anywhere. At the end of the tour we demonstrate how our chocolate is tempered to produce the deep rich shiny brown treat that we covet so much.

Bob is awesome. He's a true New Englander at heart with a passion for the environment and chocolate. He offers different samples of chocolate (that have been processed in different ways). It's a must go. 15 dollars is a bargain for this tour!

When I was 5 my parents took us on a family trip, a two hour road trip to Hershey, PA. I still remember the large pools of chocolate from the factory tour and the free sample. I asked my parents, "So we went ALL this way for a candy bar." Since discovering good dark chocolate, some time ago, I am... More

Great tour and lesson and the production of chocolate. Spent hours learning and taste testing the various steps in chocolate development, and the whole thing only cost $15! Of course we spent more than that on truffles afterward...

I agree with other reviewers... This will ruin you for simple "chocolate" forever. Bob will spend as much time as desired explaining the chocolate process, and allowing you to taste each step. We were there for almost two hours and lived every minute. I agree about the restaurant as well. Run by Bob's wife, the food is amazing. Visit the... More

If you are anywhere near Monteverde, go on this tour!!! So interesting to learn about how chocolate is made from beginning to end, to see it in action, and especially to taste it after each stage. Bob is a true chocolatier and makes great products!

Bob, a former ecologist, is incredibly knowledgeable about the art and science of making chocolate. He and his wife run a fantastic establishment including a chocolate tour, restaurant, and apparently a bat cave. The upper deck of the building offers gorgeous views of sunset while you dine. I can't say enough how amazing the chocolate tour was for us even... More

If you want to learn more than you ever thought possible about chocolate - then this is the tour for you! We learned so much about the farms, the process, the beans and the world wide production of cocoa. Bob, the owner, lead the tour, and offered a wealth of information to stimulate our minds along with samples to stimulate... More

The history, the process, the owner, and pretty much every little thing about this place made my entire trip to Costa Rica worthwhile.

I travelled from Canada with a group of students and heard nothing but great things about this chocolate tour at Cafe Cabure. I spoke with Susana over the phone and she was so helpful and accommodating especially with the large group I was trying to take to the chocolate tour (30 people). She set us up on two separate tours... More

My friend and I went here for the chocolate tour without any expectations and it surpassed anything we had imagined. It was so informative and interactive. We were able to try samples at each stage of the chocolate making process. And as a side note, the chocolate was fantastic! You won't want to eat regular store bought chocolate after eating... More
