About
We produce our own "bean to bar" chocolate in our Umpa-Lumpa-sized Monteverde chocolate factory. We are now offering a chocolate tour in English that demonstrates the entire process- how we select beans, and then roast and grind them to produce our "artesanal" chocolate that rivals the finest anywhere. At the end of the tour we demonstrate how our chocolate is tempered to produce the deep rich shiny brown treat that we covet so much.

I enjoyed this tour even though I don't like chocolate! Bob was funny and knowledgeable and made the experience engaging and tasty (if you like chocolate). We liked the friendliness and small-town (in a good way) vibe. Plus we ate lunch at the cafe before hand and had the best salads of our CR stay. Highly recommend.

Even though it is a small room where Bob does his tour i could not think of any better way to explain how chocolate is made. You will see the cacao trees and get shown the whole process from bean to bar. Bob is experimenting a lot with chocolate and is really passionate about it. Afterwards you will not only know what the difference between good and average chocolate is, but also taste the difference. His chocolate is fantastic! I would go again and again and again… highly recommended if you are interested in chocolate but also if you are interested in superfoods like cacao beans, which probably is one of the foods highest in antioxidants…
Thanks

We were directed to this Chocolate tour by our Farmstay (Finca Terra Vida). It was pretty much in town and easy to get to. It takes place in a restaurant. Bob lead out the tour (just our family and 1 other guest) at 4pm. Cost was $12 per person. He went into depth on the making of chocolate. We loved the interactive component of it. You get to taste many different types of chocolate including drinking hot chocolate. Great for all ages. Lasted about 1.5hrs

I highly recommend the Cabure chocolate tour. My boyfriend and I attended today, and it was excellent. The tour was very comprehensive, and we learned a lot about how chocolate is made from tree to table. The presenter was obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about quality chocolate. The samples he provided were excellent! I would definitely recommend this tour!

We visited the chocolate tour on 21st of april 2021. It was such an amazing experience. The cafe is runned by this lovely couple. He told us all about the chocolate making process and he showed it in his own little factory. He let us taste the beans, hot chocolate, milk bars, etc. I would recommend it to everyone who wants to do a tour in Monteverde!

Highly recommend this tour, whether or not you're interested in or even like chocolate. Bob is extremely knowledgeable, and we loved his scientific approach to making chocolate. Also came home with some of the best chocolate we have ever tasted.

My husband and I stayed in Monteverde for the first part of our trip and i'm so happy we came across this little chocolate shop. Bob gave us a fantastic tour and explanation of how to make chocolate. It was during the slow season so we had a private tour which was amazing. We got to taste hot chocolate and make our own chocolate covered marshmallows. The chocolate is amazing! Don't miss this if you're in Monteverde.

There was much detail shared in an enjoyable and interesting format. We were able to see the entire process in this small scale operation, from the tree in the backyard to the tasting of chocolate all along the way. He spoke of the various ways to process the cacao and how this affects the taste. It was very interesting and tasty!

This tour is one of passion and interest. The couple who offer it grow their own chocolate, ethically. Anyone who lives chocolate (who doesn’t?), will love this tour!

When I was 5 my parents took us on a family trip, a two hour road trip to Hershey, PA. I still remember the large pools of chocolate from the factory tour and the free sample. I asked my parents, "So we went ALL this way for a candy bar."

Since discovering good dark chocolate, some time ago, I am always on the lookout to discover what makes some 70% plus cocoa bars better than others. Well if you want a great short course on this and much more it is well worth the trip to "ALL the way" Cabure to learn about how chocolate can be made better and plans to discover more of the science behind it.
