About Cabure Chocolate Tour
We produce our own "bean to bar" chocolate in our Umpa-Lumpa-sized Monteverde chocolate factory. We are now offering a chocolate tour that demonstrates the entire process- how we select beans, and then roast and grind them to produce our "artesanal" chocolate that rivals the finest anywhere. At the end of the tour we demonstrate how our chocolate is tempered to produce the deep rich shiny brown treat that we covet so much.

We visited the chocolate tour on 21st of april 2021. It was such an amazing experience. The cafe is runned by this lovely couple. He told us all about the chocolate making process and he showed it in his own little factory. He let us taste the beans, hot chocolate, milk bars, etc. I would recommend it to everyone who wants to do a tour in Monteverde!

I highly recommend the Cabure chocolate tour. My boyfriend and I attended today, and it was excellent. The tour was very comprehensive, and we learned a lot about how chocolate is made from tree to table. The presenter was obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about quality chocolate. The samples he provided were excellent! I would definitely recommend this tour!

There was much detail shared in an enjoyable and interesting format. We were able to see the entire process in this small scale operation, from the tree in the backyard to the tasting of chocolate all along the way. He spoke of the various ways to process the cacao and how this affects the taste. It was very interesting and tasty!

This tour turned out to be so much more informational and interesting than I could have expected. The tour is run by a man with a true passion for creating high quality chocolate on a local scale. It was fascinating learning about commercialized chocolate production as compared to small-scale businesses like this one, and the final product is absolutely delicious. In addition to learning about the history and process, we tried chocolate/cacao through all of its different stages and did taste tests with popular brands. One of our highlights in Monteverde/Santa Elena.

I had the pleasure of a chocolate tour at Cabure. Bob was such a passionate and knowledgable guide. We started our tour out back looking at the cacao trees. We then learnt the whole process of making chocolate and cocoa butter including the history of cacao, the economics of the trade and the benefits of this fermented food. It was by far one of the highlights of my trip to Costa Rica. I would highly recommend this tour and at $15 it’s a real bargain! We stocked up on lots of proper chocolate to take home too. A word of warning: I guarantee your view towards chocolate will not be the same after this tour (in a good way.) Thank you Bob for a wonderful few hours with you (& Marley!)
