Property is large with many trails. There will be a lot of other groups going there the same time as you. We noticed that some guides were carrying stronger flashlights and tripods with a digital device that magnified the animal on a screen. These groups were seeing a lot more things - snake, owl, sloth, etc. I asked our guide why he didn’t have that equipment, and he responded that he didn’t want to carry it. Very disappointing. We walked around for two hours and only got to see a sloth, and that was only because another group had spotted it, and we were close enough to see their lights.

I was a bit disappointed with this tour after having done another one with another tour company. The previous tour group had black lights, spotting scopes and a wealth of knowledge! (All for an extra 10-15$). We also saw quadruple the amount of animals, which obviously can be hit or miss depending on them. This being said, I felt like I needed to pull information out of Roy, as information was not given freely like previous guide. Often he would stop to socialize with other guides while we waited. I do not feel I learned a significant amount of information about the region and felt like I may have been walking around in circles on the SMALL enclosed property. The flashlights were given were barely bright enough to illuminate >3-5 feet ahead of you, let alone the trees (without the help of your guide). It’s up to you as to whether this is something that appeals to you.

This tour was a huge disappointment and actually left me feeling unsafe as a solo female traveler. We spent about half of our time walking down a road past private homes, looking up at power lines to "spot a sloth". I see more nature on my drive to work. The worst part, however, was the fact that my guide was intoxicated. He was so intoxicated that a hint of his breath was nauseating. I was picked up at my AirBnb by the tour company in a shuttle, yet my guide felt it necessary to offer to "pay for my taxi" to get back. Sure, if I like the idea of not making it back to my place. Luckily a nice couple on the tour with me offered a ride back. Avoid this place.

Met Anthony for the night hike - saw sleeping birds, tarantulas, pit viper, frogs and two sloths, which we would have never seen as two-toeds are nocturnal. Wear good sturdy shoes and bring a flashlight if you can. They also provide one for you if you don’t. Lovely experience. PS these are night hikes and not a zoo visit. Some commented that they expected to see X, Y or Z and were annoyed with the guide. Go to a zoo or buy a photo book next time ;-).
