Walter did fantastic job. We were a group of 8 with kids from 6 - 12 yrs age. His passion for showing the travelers an unforgettable time is evident. He did not get tired by our questions and was patient with the kids. Highly recommend this tour.

We did the night tour on NYE, and our whole family loved it. Our tour guide, Rodiber, was great at spotting animals and was very informative. We saw so many species that we had not seen during day tours/hikes. This tour is a must do in Monteverde.

We really enjoyed the night walk. We saw many cool animals and our guide knew a lot about them. The walk was well organized and we felt safe throughout the whole walk. We also got equipped with flashlights, which was very handy as we could spot animals by ourselves as well. Thank you again for the cool experience!

I was a bit disappointed with this tour after having done another one with another tour company. The previous tour group had black lights, spotting scopes and a wealth of knowledge! (All for an extra 10-15$). We also saw quadruple the amount of animals, which obviously can be hit or miss depending on them.

This being said, I felt like I needed to pull information out of Roy, as information was not given freely like previous guide. Often he would stop to socialize with other guides while we waited. I do not feel I learned a significant amount of information about the region and felt like I may have been walking around in circles on the SMALL enclosed property.

The flashlights were given were barely bright enough to illuminate >3-5 feet ahead of you, let alone the trees (without the help of your guide). It’s up to you as to whether this is something that appeals to you.

Way too crowded. We were in a nice, small group of only 7 with our guide but they had so many other groups scheduled at the same time, that it diminished the outdoor experience. Our group kept criss-crossing the paths of other groups over and over again. We were constantly waiting to get through, and it was annoying seeing the flashlights from all the other groups. On the positive, our guide was very knowledgeable.

Really disappointed with this experience. Not the animals and wildlife or lack of it, it’s nature you can’t predict that.
However, having booked transport, we were contacted a couple of hours before the tour to say they didn’t pick up from our Airbnb and could we walk the the intersection to meet there bus-we duly did.
On arrival there are large amounts of people all arriving at the same time in what can only be described as organised chaos and not a very professional outfit (some of the activities you do over here are first class, this really isn’t)
We booked an English speaking tour, the rest of our group weren’t English speaking but had their own interpreter with them who also spoke Spanish. Most of our tour was delivered In Spanish to their guide to translate. So much so that another park ranger arrived behind us to ask what we had spotted, we had no clue, he listened in and told us, in English what we were looking for.
To top of off one of the party we were assigned to be with for Thetis tour through it appropriate to wonder 10 meters from the group to relieve himself-delightful!
I did request that the bus dropped us all the way back to our Airbnb on the way home i the pitch black. He did, thank you.
A lot of money to be ignored and sidelined in a group tour that you’ve paid for. Too many people in a poorly maintained facility. Money grabbing at its best!

A very disappointing experience. The chances of seeing anything other than a couple of sleeping birds (although how they sleep with the noise is a wonder) , frogs and insects is quite small because there are so many people stomping around with flashlights and talking loudly. Each group is far too large anyway and there are so many groups you keep bumping into each other. This is all about making money and getting as many people through the door as possible. Look at alternatives if you seriously want to see night creatures.

The highlight of this tour for the first hour was a grasshopper on a leaf. There was supposedly a tarantula in a hole in a tree that they put a spotting scope on but I couldn't see anything. It was certainly not moving. Finally spotted a Toucan and a couple of other birds but they were nesting for the night. The point of this tour was to see animals that come out at night. Didn't see anything like that. What a joke. Would have been better to go on a daylight tour.

Fantastic tour with Pepo, a local guide who’s passionate about his job and even though it was stablished a 2h tour it ended being 2h30’. It was a reduced group and we were lucky enough to see different animals. I highly recommend it! Thank you Pepo

The Night Walk Tour Santamaria was recommended to us by at our hotel. Transportation was provided. We went on the 7:30PM tour. Flashlights were provided for each of us in our family of 5. Our guide was Louis. Louis was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the animals in the rain forest. We saw many different birds, scorpion, snakes, spiders, a porcupine, and more. Louis’s scope provided great views of everything we saw. Louis also knew so much information about the plants and trees in the forest. All of our questions were answered and we had a lot of fun along the way. We highly recommend Santamaria Night Walk in Monteverde!!
