We stumbled upon Sarah's Gallery and decided to check it out. The house is tucked into the forest to the point where we felt a bit like Hansel and Gretel. Sarah greeted us, pointed us to the gallery and let us peruse. Her painting are lovely and we couldn't resist buying one, both for the paining itself and for the story of it! All in all, a fun little excursion.

We were looking for a way to spend an afternoon and stumbled across Sarah’s Gallery. There was a brief drive and walk up to Sarah’s beautiful cabin. Her paintings were gorgeous and we left with one to put the in our home.

Great people here and good service. Not a wide selection, but enough and fun to sit outside and watch the critters and birds.

My friends and I hiked the path in the back of the monteverde institute about 100 feet from the cheese factory/ice cream store. (Btw, factory no longer does tours). Hike was free. After, we saw sign for “gallery” and came across house in the woods. The owner and artist, Sarah, has been living in Costa Rica since 1978. She welcomed us into her home and gallery. We looked at her collection of shells and her beautiful watercolors that capture the feel of the country. I purchased a pack of ten assorted greeting cards of her paintings. She spoke with us about the Quaker way of life which is a lot more “real” than most others. I’m glad to have happened upon her place.

We read about Sarah‘s gallery and took a walk-through the Crandell preserve at the Monteverde institute. We found her house and gallery. Sarah was gone to San Jose, but her partner Mel was home. He showed us around and let us view the artwork. We ended up picking three and couldn’t decide between a few more. We had no money-cash only, so we went back a few days later. Sarah was home, so met her and purchased 5 paintings in total. It was wonderful to hear her story and learn about their life in Monteverde. Well worth the visit. Take cash. It’s a 10 minute walk from the institute.
