Our family of 2 adults, 1 teen and 8 year old were recommended this tour over the Don Juan one by a local resident. We had a great guide that was very informative of coffee, sugarcane and cocco beans. This is a great educational slow pace activity.

Went here to fill in some down time, and was glad I did. The transfer took for ever, as we had to pick up other guests located out in the boonies, but what the heck, Pura Vida!. Our guide/Cat herder was very knowledgable, hade a great sense of humour, and was skillful enough to not laugh at his own jokes.... More

We booked this tour because it was raining all day in Monteverde, although of course this tour is 50% outdoors. Our guide Eric was fantastic and the tour was very practical. It detracts a little from the authenticity of the tour that neither sugar cane, coffee or cocoa is farmed for commercial purposes - it is purely for the sake... More

We really enjoyed the tour, this is a small family run place with a different feel to the larger coffee plantations. We really liked how practical it all was and how accessible every stage is. Expect to be picking coffee beans, making chocolate from the plant and going home with some homemade sugar treats. Maybe a little expensive, but a... More

My mom and I really enjoyed this tour. We had a small group and our tour guide was excellent, cracked some jokes, and spoke great English. The tour lasted about 2 hours. It explained the processes to make coffee, chocolate, and sugar. It was very interesting and I learned a lot from the tour. It is a family friendly activity... More

This was an excellent tour. The guide picked us up at our hotel and transported us to the farm. We were divided into an English speaking group and a Spanish speaking group, each with their own guides. Our guide showed us through the farm, teaching us about the processing of sugar cane, raising, harvesting, drying and roasting coffee beans, and... More

This place is just a tourist attraction and not a working farm. They make money entirely on the tourism. That being said it was an OK showing you how coffee is made, including coffee plants. And how cacao is ground to make chocolate. Churned sugar to make candy which you got to take home. Small meal included which was delicious.... More

The tour is certainly worth a visit, giving insight into sugar, coffee and chocolate production. You will never drink another cup of Starbucks coffee again. The tour time could have been shortened, but otherwise entertaining and educational.

A family operated farm showing how coffee, sugarcane, and other foods are planted, grown and harvested. My family has visited twice. The first time was shortly after the family began giving tours 2008 and again in 2016. They have expanded the tour but have kept the personal, hands on experience. You get to sample everything made at the farm. Also... More

The tour we initially scheduled was rained out so the INCREDIBLE owner of our bed & breakfast (Esteban) recommended this one, & it turned out to be an exceptional tour!! We learned a LOT about the fascinating process of making coffee and cocoa! The scenery was breathtaking, the chocolate & raw sugar candy that we got to make was delectable... More
