We learned a lot about coffee, chocolate and sugar cane. We were in a small group (4 total) and there was lots of hands-on experiences. Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable about the farm. It's a small family run place and the coffee is excellent! Our price included transportation from our lodging. Only word of advice- if it's a... More

Very nice tour, lots of information and tastings. About 2 hours. Walking but not strenuous at all. You have the option of buying coffee that's made here (really good) but it isn't pushed on you. Would go on a sunny/clouded day, but can also work with rain - with the right clothes.

Interesting tour of a working coffee plantation. Very informative and hands on The guide explained the chocolate process from gourd with seeds inside that were the foundation for chocolate. We then took sugar cane from stalk to making candy , finally went from coffee fields to processing and tasting of coffee.

We booked this the day we were scheduled to arrive in Monteverde and it was easily to find and get registered when we arrived. The tour involves mild walking but we made a ton of stops with places to sit and listen to the guide. The guide was really knowledgeable and clearly passionate about their work. We enjoyed that the... More

This is a family run Coffee plantation on the steep slopes outside Santa Elena. We were lucky enough to be shown round by the owner's son, Diego. Most of the staff are either immediate or extended family, so there is a real sense of collective pride as you tour the property. The primary crop is coffee, however the plantation also... More

The family moved into Monteverde in 1949 and have grown coffee ever since. When deciding between Don Juan and this one, we chose El Trapich because it was cheaper and seemed more authentic. We where absolutely right! The owner came to pick us up, and arriving at the estate we were welcomed by the family. The tour started and without... More

We had an opportunity to see things being grown start to finish (coffee, sugar cane and cacao). My wife made natural sugar. Seeing what it take to make our morning coffee makes you appreciate it a little more. The guide was knowledgeable and informative. We would highly recommend to everyone.
