The Tour was excellent and Oscar was providing us with a lot of insights of the wildlife and forest in a way that we almost forgot that it was raining quite a lot! We felt in good company on every level, equipment, safety and fun!

We really enjoyed the El Bosque Nature Night Tour (we did not stay at the hotel), which helped us to appreciate the jungle in a different time and way. The tour is offered at 5:30 pm and 7:45 pm, and we recommend the early one because then you have the opportunity to see the area in daylight, dusk, and dark. In the daylight, we saw agouti (large rodent) and many birds. After dark, we saw many varieties of insects, nesting birds, and a possum in a tree. The sounds of the jungle were interesting too. Our guide did a good job of spotting things and explaining them to us, and we were fortunate to have a small group of only 3 people. I especially enjoyed watching the fascinating leafcutter ants and seeing a huge mound – the guide told us all about them. They provide a flashlight, but I recommend taking a spare if you have one as the provided one started to run low on battery power toward the end of the 2-hour journey. Also bring binoculars if you have some. We had no insect problems, but we wore long sleeves, long pants and closed-toe shoes to be on the safe side. Transport was provided from our hotel in Santa Elena, and the ride up to Monteverde was scenic. If you are a fan of nature (and if you're not, the Monteverde/Santa Elena area may not be the best choice for you), definitely enjoy a night jungle tour!

We had a very windy night so there wasn’t much to see in trees but our guide still found pretty cool birds for us to watch while they were sleeping. We also saw a lot of bugs which the kids found pretty cool! All in all, it was fun and a good experience.

Hi Jocelyn, Thank you for the review! Yes, it's a little more difficult to see bigger animals some nights (it's just how it is with nature...). But I am happy to hear that the insects stole the show and that your kids enjoyed the experience :) Cheers, Daniel Lalinde, Manager

We had a great tour with our guide. He pointed out all kinds of wildlife that we would never have seen otherwise. The trails are right on the property and are quiet and secluded. I would highly recommend it!

Hello Joseph, Thanks for sharing your feedback. It's awesome to hear you had a great tour! Our goal is to use our natural and human resources to share a bit of what Monteverde has to offer. This is best accomplished in a less touristy, and more authentic tour with a great guide and small groups. And that's what we're all about, Joseph. Cheers, Daniel Lalinde, Manager

Our guide was able to spot insects and small animals that we would have certainly missed. She was wonderful with the grandchildren and did not exclude them from the conversation. We enjoyed a starry night with our guide taking us to a spectacular viewing spot near a huge anthill.
