Monteverde Costa Rica is one of the best areas where you will have the chance to learn about the cultivation and the processes, of how an authentic coffee that was used as far back as our grandparent’s generation is made. The tour was developed in an environment that stands out as one of the best in our culture and tradition; a tradition that has made this country one of progress and peace. The tour lasts for about 2 hours and it includes typical snacks and the option of an authentic home-made lunch.

Loving coffee and chocolate and still able to learn more about it. I didn't expect much content. I went for the tasting. I got back very pleased with many purchases and wisdom. I recommend to take this tour.

So we dropped in for a 1pm tour on a Friday. Not too busy - the group was only 9 people and the tour was 2hrs. 70% coffee, 20% chocolate, 10% sugar cane.... so you learn a little about everything. I really enjoyed it. The...More

We (my wife and I and two friends) stopped here on the recommendation of our Monkey Tours guide. Boy are we glad we did! For $25/person we got a close look at the stages of processing chocolate and coffee, touching and tasting along the way....More

Nice tour if you love coffee! Reasonably priced and bonus that you also get to learn about the process of making/extracting cacao and sugar! And often you get to meet the still spry boss Don Juan himself!

We paid $30/pp for this tour and $15/child. In comparison, a night walk to see animals costs the same and often with a much more knowledgeable guide. And a horseback ride is $45/pp... Our guide was informative, but this person's English pronunciation was poor -...More

Great coffee tour. Plus we got to see how early chocolate was made and hour Costa Ricans make a sugar cane drink. We thought this tour would be ridiculously touristy but it wasn't (well the 30 yard long ox cart ride was but everything else...More

Good amount of traditional methods explained as well as modern methods. Nice walk through the grounds and plenty of interactive activities tasting cacao and sugar cane as well as fresh filtered coffee.

Great place to visit in MonteVerde! Our guide, Junior, was as funny as he was knowledgeable. Most of the tour focuses on coffee including how its grown, processed and roasted. There's also a bit about chocolate (including a tasting of raw, unpeeled cocoa beans which...More

Yes I believe this one is part of the fair trade operation where the workers get above average pay (which is still peanuts)
