My husband and I spent 5 days crossing Costa Rica with David as our guide and it was outstanding! He did the driving ( thank heavens), his English was a godsend, and his knowledge of flora and fauna incredible. His expert eye and ears in finding birds was unbelievable. We saw 151 species in just 5 days ! All the while he enhanced our experience with his biology background adding an invaluable educational opportunity. His love and commitment for nature and environmental relationships is heart felt. We found him to be well known and respected by his peers, and his photographic skills are outstanding. We are in our late 60s, and in pretty good health. David adjusted the pace to match our abilities and take into account the terrain of the day, heat and humidity.

David is a birding superstar and researcher, yet he is humble , kind, insightful and brilliant. We spent two exceptional days with him which were life altering. He is invested in his clients and sees everything that is in present view. His knowledge of forest, fauna and wildlife is remarkable. If you book a birding event with this man you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I just returned from an amazing 2 week birding trip organized and guided by David. We stayed in 6 different lodges where David found us 341 species of birds as well as many snakes, frogs and other creatures. He is very knowledgeable and was very patient with us. This was our 2nd adventure with David ..see Jan 14 2019 for 1st review. We wouldn’t hesitate recommending David and look forward to another guided trip with him in the future.

We had a great half-day tour in Curi-Cancha with David's friend, Jorge. Both guides are so nice, very professional. Jorge is so dedicated to his job, showed us amazing animals. We saw quetzal and toucan that we dreamed of 😊 amazing experience and so much knowledge about the forest and wildlife. Thank you, Jorge and David!

My wife and I hired David for a half-day birding tour in Curi Cancha Reserve. We saw quetzals and many other species, thanks to David’s keen eye and ears. He went out of his way to pick us up at our hotel, is very knowledgeable about plants and other aspects of nature (not just birds), and is very easy-going and personable. His rates are very competitive and he is truly an excellent bird guide (and we have hired guides all over the Americas). We can strongly recommend him, and would definitely hire him again on our next trip!

David was an excellent guide. We had so much fun on our bird watching tour that we hired him for a night tour as well. We saw so many birds and animals - David knew the best spots to take us. He's a great all around naturalist - very personable and easy going and patient with our pace we needed for our 2 yr old daughter. We highly recommend David for tours and would use him again the next time we are in Costa Rica

We got a night tour by David in the Monteverde Wildlife Refuge last night. He's really warm and smart and knows the biology and natural science extremely well. If you are well educated in the natural sciences, or if you're not, David will provide a satisfying experience in the Monteverde forest.

We happened to get David as a guide at Curi Cancha, and I am so glad we did. Even with rain, he helped us identify almost 30 species in a few hours. David is very knowledgeable, friendly and skilled with his scope! While it wasn't a photography tour, he helped me set up a great shot of a Toucanet. He told me he leads photography tours and I really want to make it back to Costa Rica to do one with him.

I was put in touch with David by our hotel in Monteverde. David did not disappoint. We had the best day’s birding in what must be one of the most beautiful birding locations in the world. The highlight of our trip was the Resplendant Quetzal. We saw at least four of these amazing birds. Other highlights included prong-billed barbet, three wattled bellbird, Chiriqui quail dove, white-throated spadebill, golden crowned chlorophonia, spangle cheeked tanager, green fronted lancebill, blue-headed vireo (an apparent rarity for the area) and my first olingo (not under the best of circumstances unfortunately - a moribund individual that we came across lying prostrate on a track). I would recommend David to anybody. He is a friendly and engaging individual who has a real way with people. His powers of vision are second to none and it constantly amazed me how he could pick out birds sat tight on the tallest of trees or conjure up hitherto hidden birds from dense foliage. What’s more, he has a deep encyclopaedic knowledge not only of the birds of Costa Rica but the wildlife of Costa Rica in general. If you’re planning a trip to Monteverde or just happen to be in the area and fancy a unique wildlife experience, don’t hesitate to contact David. I can assure you that you will finish your day beaming from ear to ear with special memories that will live with you forever. Adrian

We hired David for an extended bird tour, which included several days in Monteverde. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and determined when it comes to locating difficult to see species. On our trip, we had excellent looks at not only quetzal, but also bellbird and umbrellabird. David has an extensive network of contacts, and was always learning of a new nest, owl roost, or other piece of up-to-date information. I cannot recommend David highly enough.
