Next to a public beach which looks onto Le Morne Mountain and the sea where dolphins are sighted on boat trips. Experienced guides show visitors around this 19th century British fort. Come and discover why it was built, how the tower was equipped for soldiers to survive inside during a siege, and see where they ate and slept. Displays include a cannon, coins, military buttons, life size models of soldiers with their muskets and swords.Feel the weight of a real cannonball and see where the powder was kept. Have your camera handy for a photo of yourself dressed up as a soldier with a musket.

So interesting and in such a good condition. An excellent English speaking guide took us around the tower and braved it onto the roof in the rain so that we didn't miss anything.

A small museum right the entrance of the La Preneuse beach which is easily overlooked in the rush to the beach. It is highly informative and our kids loved it.

Interesting piece of history. Well presented in English by local young lady. Probably would have been more comfortable for her in French and OK for my wife but I speak only English. She could answer questions outside of the usual presentation. The tower and contents...More
