Description:

The Koekelberg Basilica ranks fifth among the world's largest churches,...

The Koekelberg Basilica ranks fifth among the world's largest churches, after the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Paix in Yamoussokro on the Ivory Coast, St Peter's in Rome, St Paul's in London and Santa Maria Dei Fiori in Florence.Today, the church is in the first place a place of prayer for peace. The church is still used for celebrations of the parish or for big national celebrations. But the basilica is more than that. The basilica has also an important cultural function. It’s a magnificent Art Deco monument, there are two museums, there are yearly different expositions and you can enjoy a wonderful view over Brussels!

Beautiful from the outside and inside, unique in Brussels! Furthermore, you have the opportunity to take the elevator to the top (for around 5 €) and have an Arc-de-Triomphe like view from above, but the light version! If you spend some days in Brussels, definitely stop by!

One of its kind in Brussels, this one is quite different from other churches in Brussels, entrance is free, only if you wanna get on top of tower then you need to buy a ticket, otherwise feel free to roam around.

Beautiful church overlooking the city below. Easy to get to from the Elisabeth subway station. Walk through the park to get to it. Take the elevator to the top of the church for a panoramic view...totally worth it!!!

Stood out on the skyline from our hotel so got off the tour bus to check it out. The building inside is quite informative however the outside is looking a little neglected with graffiti quite prominent on an iconic building, shame.

Due to huge size you can see Basilica from any city point. It's located in the end of Elizabeth park, 7 min walk from Simonis metro station ( just keep righ, you will see the park). This giant building is very interesting outside but quite poor inside. It's worth visiting panorama for only 5€ and you will see the whole... More

We walked for quite some time to find this church, although there is a bus stop near by. This Basilica was well worth the walk. It's gigantic, and I've seen a lot of basilica's. Inside there is beautiful scenes from Bible stories etched in stained glass. It's very lovely and peaceful. We didn't encounter a crowd on a week day.

We visited the Basilica via the subway and got off at the Elisabeth station. It is a short 15 minute walk from the station to the Basilica but the walk through Elisabeth park is very nice and you get great views of the Basilica from a distance. I think you can take a bus from the station but I highly... More

As we spend only 24 hours in Bruxelle, this was a great experience, there was even a wedding going on, so nice.
