The Koekelberg Basilica ranks fifth among the world's largest churches, after the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Paix in Yamoussokro on the Ivory Coast, St Peter's in Rome, St Paul's in London and Santa Maria Dei Fiori in Florence. Today, the church is in the first place a place of prayer for peace. The church is still used for celebrations of the parish or for big national celebrations. But the basilica is more than that. The basilica has also an important cultural function. It’s a magnificent Art Deco monument, there are two museums, there are yearly different expositions and you can enjoy a wonderful view over Brussels!

The Church and the surroundings are stunning, especially in Fall this is great with all the trees etc. Pretty far out from the center though, however this makes you explore other neighborhoods which shows you a different side to Brussels too.

The view from the end of the green is fantastic, it's a short walk from the metro station which is nice. You can get some pretty decent photos!

You cant miss this. Admire from the outside, admire the interior too. Then go to the panoramic deck to see a good view of Brussels.

The basilica is big and has a nice architecture and color. The inside consists of different parts which are all interesting. I didn't climb the tower, so can't say anything for that part.

The view of the church from a distance is impressive, and it is a very large space which is atmospheric. The stained glass is very good but I didn't find much else special. I suppose I was put off by there being a charge to...More
