Unquestionably one of the best ski resorts in existence.
All the slopes are very wide and (often) long, and there are also ones for every difficulty; However, their width makes them usable for skiers of varying experience.
Huge, high-quality refuges everywhere, and extremely fast and modern facilities (mainly gondola lifts, which still allow the heavy traffic to be handled).
Absolutely recommended area.

You are on top of the world. 3000 meters, during summer you should wear even as winter, nice place, 360° view of mountains and facing all the "krons" which are the top of the around mountains. You go there with an "ovovia" for around 40€ per family but it's a must. On top there are several paths for different level, bike paths, kids paths. Then restaurants, games for child and adult. You can spend the day there but pay attention: around 5 pm the ovovia facilities close...
For kids there is also a "treasure hunt" to make them walking funny.

It is an Alpine mountain 2275 m high asl which effectively divides the Val Pusteria and the Val di Marebbe and is located just outside Brunico where, from the fr. Rescone and leave your car in the (free) car park, you can go up via the cable car (€28 return for adults...not exactly cheap...).
Apart from the winter with snow parks and splendid ski slopes that are part of the Dolomiti Superski area, it is also a very popular summer place for excursions, unforgettable views from the famous Concordia 2000 bell, bike park, skyscraper, Lumen Museum, Messner Mountain Museum , paragliding, bar-restaurants, Kron trampoline, wood ball track and climbing structures for the little ones... and refuges to reach for the more sporty and willing!
The simplest walk that allows you to admire the panorama at 360° is the Concordia path, which can also be done with children
A splendid place to which I recommend dedicating at least a day to appreciate its beauty, contact with nature and unforgettable breathtaking views!

We went skiing on 5/6 January 2024, let me start by saying that the weather was not nice. On the 5th we skied all day without problems, on the 6th however we showed up at 9am to ski and the slopes were impassable as they were not groomed. we took a slope to return to the valley and asked for a refund of the ticket and the answer was that we were not at a sufficient level to ski. I would like to point out that my partner is a competitor. Terrible treatment of the customer

I've been skiing for 40 years and I've never had a situation like this before. I returned yesterday from Plan de Corones. At the top it seemed to be in Rimini in August. I found a situation of impassable slopes in the lower part of the area already in the early afternoon. Piles of semi-melted snow interspersed with sheets of ice. In these conditions it is extremely dangerous to ski. The safety of the skiers is at stake, many of whom I saw carried away on stretchers. The Lift Management MUST take responsibility for closing the impassable slopes, as I have seen in many cases in my experience as a skier. As far as I'm concerned, I'm done with the Plan.

In summer, the circular route A is a good, easy hike. A highlight is the swing. It costs €15 per person, but it's an amazing result. The huts are also open and offer good food.

I will have many beautiful memories from this place but I'm not going to come again here. Price are simply unreasonable. Of course place itself has a lot of benefits: great views, helpful service, snow parks, speed control, a lot of possible routes to ski. But regarding the crowds, queues to gondolas, and idea of gondolas (a lot of people in tiny vagon and we know the rest of story... ) I say "not again". Once in a lifetime - why not. But for those money I'm gonna visit few other places.

Over 100 km of slopes for all tastes and skills, 32 lifts, breathtaking views summarise the good enough reason to get there in the winter season.
Miles of cycling lanes and magnificent mountains justify spending some time during summer here, too.

This has become one of our favourite - and perhaps unexpected - ski locations in Europe and we have skied many locations in France; Switzerland; Italy; Austria and Germany in the past.
Fantastic gondola access from at least four different locations means that there are few if any major queues to get up the mountain - even during the holiday period when we visited this year.
The lifts are modern and efficient; there is a great variety of runs heading off in all directions from the mountain and the quality of equipment and maintenance of the slopes is excellent.
Some great restaurants at the summit of Kronplatz but others across the mountain as well. Fantastic 360 views from the summit and it can also be part of the Dolomiti Superski pass which means within an hour's drive you can be in places like Cortina or close to Val Gardena as well for different skiing days.
All in all rapidly becoming a favourite destination - and its modern lift infrastructure would be the envy of some of its more famous neighbours - for example Cortina that is full of antiquated and slow chairlifts.
Great place to learn and great too for intermediates in particular with a few things to excite the advanced skier too.

It's a good place for people who are learning skiing. Definitely minus is that you must lift up on gondols instead chairs.

EN - How much is the lift (adults) to go from Brunico to the museum in Kronplatz in winter? We don't want to ski, just visit the Messner Mountain Museum.
IT - Quanto costa l'ascensore (adulti) per andare da Brunico al museo di Plan de Corones in inverno? Non vogliamo sciare, basta visitare il Messner Mountain Museum.
Thank you!

Salve qualcuno puo indicarmi quali alberghi posso trovare sulle piste di plan de Corones? sulle facili possibilmente. grazie mille
Written April 28, 2017

Buona serata.

Is it possible to stay overnight on the mountain?
Written August 15, 2016
There are Some hotels on the slopes, but not really on the summit.
Written August 15, 2016
Vorrei sapere le al MMM Corones si può arrivare direttamente in auto oppure è necessario prendere una funivia. In quest'ultimo caso sono entrambe vicine alla meta la stazione a monte della RUIS e della KRONPLATZ?
