Neighborhood: Bondi Beach
An iconic Australian suburb, Bondi Beach is famous for its fantastic beaches and views. Once the domain of backpackers, hundreds of tourists from all over the world descend en masse to Bondi in December ready to enjoy the "Aussie summer". Bondi Beach boasts impressive ocean views all along the many restaurants and bars on Campbell Parade. Wake up early and take a dip in the surf before walking the scenic stretch from Bondi to Coogee Beach. Stroll through the Saturday organic markets in North Bondi or grab some fish and chips and relax in the grassy area opposite the beach. For more upscale cuisine, head down to Hall Street where a range of new eateries have recently opened. Just make sure to save enough energy for the buzzing nightlife Bondi Beach has to offer.

I would go grab a flat white and explore all the cool vendors with unique crafts and amazing food vendors. I really liked how the little market kind of just went on and on and on. Each vendor had their very own unique craft, jewelry, custom leather bags. It’s a great thing to do on a lazy Sunday morning

Not at its best on a damp day but the food offerings were a bit boring - primarily the same six stalls that I had seen at two other markets this week. It shines for fresh produce though - way more stuff than most markets. So it seems best for locals shopping for produce, even though it's across from the beach and could make a good addition to a Saturday beach day.

If you are visiting Bondi Beach on the weekend, this is a great little market to add into the trip. It’s a colourful, interesting place to stroll through, with a good range of stalls, including local designers, original hand-crafted goods and very little tat. I didn’t see any of the cheap, plasticky rubbish that you often see at other markets.
It’s held every Saturday and Sunday in the Bondi Beach Primary School grounds, which is directly opposite the beach.
It’s worth noting that the two days are very different.
Saturday is the Farmer’s Market, with fresh food and produce. I went on a Sunday, when it’s a general market with mainly clothing, jewellery, and homeware stalls.
It’s not a huge market. I think it was probably somewhere around 50 stalls + food stalls, although it was raining when I was there so on a nicer day, there may be a lot more. Even at a leisurely pace with a lot of lingering and browsing, I easily covered it in well under an hour.
There were a couple of great swimwear stalls. I browsed at the hat stall, and the fresh flowers.
I was very tempted by the lovely soy candles at ‘Making Scents’. The white tea & ginger was particularly nice.
The art stall also caught my eye. They had beautiful framed and unframed aerial photographs of Bondi Beach. I liked the non-beach prints as well. It was a popular stall and was doing a good business. Although I didn’t buy a print on the day, I’m thinking that I might go back.
Food stalls are clustered together in a central, grassy area. We saw most of the usual range that we might have expected at a market - crepes, coffee, paella, falafels, and, my favourite, a gozleme stall. A gluten-free donut stand was popular. There’s some shade cloth overhead and people sat out in the middle with their food, listening to the live music. On a sunnier day, this would have been lovely.
Disappointingly, there were no vintage or second-hand stalls and no book stall which left a bit of a gap in the market. For tourists, there were no souvenirs (apart from the art stall and maybe a beach bag).
NOTES:
The Sunday market is open every week from 10am – 4pm. Car parking is available at the beachfront but on weekends, it is usually hard to find a spot, it’s metred and is time limited.

Nice to wander through but not a lot of variety. Think soy candles, silver jewellery, floaty shirts, beeswax wraps, turkish towels, some iconic Bondi artworks. And a really well priced fresh flower van. I comfortable did a complete lap in half an hour.

Enjoyable Sat market, held in local school yard just beyond Bondi Pavilion. Nice selection of street food - coffee, juice, buns, dumplings, etc, fruit & veg stalls and local vendors selling everything from honey and Turkish towels to sugar scrubs and eco friendly food storage. Irish bakers (seriously seedy loaf) is a favourite. Occasional live music; dogs are supposed to be left at entrance.

Market at Bondi Beach Public School, Sundays only. Nice for a stroll and look around. Stalls focus on clothes, ornamental, jewellery, picture frames. Both established market stalls and new up and coming innovative retailers

The Bondi Markets are very nice to walk through and explore, with delicious food stalls and pretty jewellery stands but as expected, it is very overpriced. Vintage clothes are so expensive here!!! Would recommend for a nice Sunday browse but probably not the best for shopping if you don’t want to get caught in a Tourist Trap.
