Bondi to Coogee Walk
Bondi to Coogee Walk

About
A cliff top coastal walk, the Bondi to Coogee walk extends for six km in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The walk features stunning views, beaches, parks, cliffs, bays and rock pools. The beaches and parks offer a place to rest, swim or a chance to eat at one of the cafes, hotels, restaurants or takeaways. All beaches offer picnic shelters, electric barbecues, play areas, kiosks, toilets and change-rooms. The walk is not difficult, there are medium gradient paths and several staircases with occasional seating. It takes about two hours to complete the Bondi to Coogee Beach section of the walk and another hour and a half if you choose to continue to Maroubra.

Top ways to experience Bondi to Coogee Walk
The area
Neighborhood: Coogee
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.

    A Must Do Walk
Amazing, easy walk, with beautiful views. No steep climbs, you can do it leisurely, stopping at bays and beaches along the way. You will see interesting rock formations and cliffs along the way. There is a nice cafe on Clovelly Beach. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip. It takes up to 2 hours. When you get to Coggee you can catch a bus to Bondi.

Great walk to see the coast
On our first day in Coogee we took this walk in reverse. It was amazing and well kept. The trail was mostly paved or elevated. The views along the cliffs and at the beaches were exceptional. Highly recommend but do early to avoid crowds in Bondi.

    Lovely coastal walk
Wonderful walk along the coast , passing beaches and seaside areas. Unfortunately it started to rain once we hit Clovelly beach so we waited. When it did not let up, had lunch at sea salt cafe and then took an uber back. Plan to do the last leg another time if possible.

Must do to see the coastline!
We have done this walk before and fell in love with it! We are not fitness nuts, are in our 50s and 60s, and finished this walk in 1 1/4 hours. When you stop at all the sites this adds the extra time to your trip. 2 hours is a good amount of time to plan for this walk. From the CBD we took bus 333 to Bondi. From Coogee we took bus 373. They pick up and drop off at different locations but walkable in CBD. Definitely a must do to enjoy the coastline!

    Fantastic!
A really great walk, linking together some of the most beautiful places in the area. Plenty of beaches, cafes and points on interest on the way. Some filtered water refill stations and bathrooms are also scattered around, so this can easily turn into a long walk withal those lovely spots to rest in available.

    Great walk
Free. Can be started from either beach. Path paved and clearly marked. Water refill stations along the way. 6.4km distance with only 73m elevation. Public transport connections out here aren’t great (mainly buses) but you can get anywhere through Bondi junction. Much to see along the way and beautiful on the right day. Took about an hour and a half but you could easily take longer.

One of the best walks ever
This was the highlight of our stay in Sydney, so much so that we went two or three times. You can do the walk in either direction or both if you're feeling particularly energetic. I would suggest that you take the bus to Coogee from Bondi and then walk back to Bondi beach. This way is a bit easier on the legs and also presents the best views of the landscape in front of you. If you walk from Bondi to Coogee the best views are over your left shoulder, something well keeping in mind. Not difficult is you are generally fit, some stairs but the views are well worth it. Bus 362 and 379 go from North Bondi to Coogee and from town buses take around 30-40minutes to Coogee. Don't miss this on any visit to Sydney.

Steady steps from Bondi to Coogee
My friends and I went there by bus, it was a sunny day and really hot outside. I suggest everyone need to take a sunscreen with you and bring a hat. The view was spectacular as others have said. There are many steady steps here and it cost us around 1 hour hiking from bondi to coogee. By the way, there are lots of water stations, really hope everyone to take a nice holiday there.

Great coast walk. Not to be missed.
Great hike with spectacular scenery. I was a bit intimidated heading out but it’s true you can stop anywhere along the way and rest/swim or just take in the views. I took advice and slathered myself with sunscreen as there is little shade. Reward at Coogie with a nice late lunch and shopping before taking the bus back to Bondi. You do need to have basic fitness. A great afternoon.

    A marvellous coast walk
A few days ago we did the walk from Coogee to Bondi. It was a glorious blue sky day, perfect for the occasion. The coastal views along the walk were breathtaking. A good pathway to walk on all the way, it is a bit up and down with quite a lot of steps to transverse so if you have a mobility problem this walk is probably not for you. We passed through quite a few different bays and little town beaches, all a bit different , all lovely. Plenty of places to seat for awhile if your getting tired or just want to relax and enjoy the sites. Toilet stops were not a problem each little beach had toilets nearby and there were places to have a drink or something to eat. The walk is about 6 kilometres, it felt longer, took us about 2 hours 30 minutes, a good workout. We stopped many times to admire the view and take photos. If your a walker this is a must do walk when your in the area and have the time, better still make the time ,it is worth the effort

This was one of the most scenic and beautiful walk we have done in the long time. Of course the company matters but also the nature that surrounds you

From Coogee to Bondi you come across beautiful scenic locations that you would probably have seen in movies. Surfers surfing, families taking a dip.or soaking under the sun, trekkers trekking, etc.

Although we felt that the Bondi Beach Pool is quite overrated, and the Coogee pool is dirty (because it's free) we think Bronte Pool was the most beautifully maintained and very scenic.

This trail walk is very easy and people of almost all ages would be able to do it.

Bondi to Coogee Walk is a scenic walking route for a perfect day out. It takes you over a few stunning beaches, cliffs, lookouts and you can take it as slow or fast as you wish. It is not too difficult to complete, but it has some stairs and it extends for approximately 6 km one way. I love it and I usually walk there and back. It is even more stunning, if you do it during the sunrise or just before the sunset. There are plenty of seats along the way, where you can take some rest and take it all in.

One of the most beautiful walk ways in the country. We always visited the place when the exhibition (sculpture by the sea) took place as enjoying both arts and the view of the ocean, perfect atmosphere. The view of the Ocean was just breathtaking, amazing view.

This is a pleasant 6km walk on good paths with a few steps up and down. The scenery is attractive especially when you consider its proximity to Sydney City Centre. We went following a period of rough weather and there was a thick brown scum on the sea up to 50 metres offshore. I am sure this is not normal so have ignored it in the rating. I have been on nicer walks in Cornwall, Devon, and Pembroke for example but we did enjoy doing it.

We took the bus from central Sydney out to Bondi - about 40mins I think. The weather was a little overcast but there were plenty of people surfing in the water. The walk is well marked, quite up and down in places and popular with people walking, jogging and generally taking the air. There are some nice beaches along the way, and a couple of outdoor swimming pools too. We finished up with a late lunch in Coogee before getting the bus back to Sydney.

I took the bus from Circular Quay in Sydney to Coogee Beach which took about 30 mins. Coogee Beach is a lovely place to start. It’s easy to see where the walk starts as everyone else is going the same way up the green hill to the left along the coast.
The walk took a good 2 hours with a few short stops to rest legs. There’s a few steps along the way but plenty of places to stop and sit and there are water fountains to refill your water bottle.
The scenery along the walk is stunning. You pass Clovelly Beach, Bronte Beach plus a few others. The surf crashes along the cliffs and rocks along the way. You can see Bondi in the distance from a couple of bays away. There are great views as you approach and it’s really exciting to see the Bondi Icebergs pool when you’re a first time visitor.
The beach did not disappoint for me, it was fabulous, long wife sandy bay, lots of surfers. There’s a really relaxed vibe on the beach and a number of bars/ cafes on the road winding above the bay. Great to relax here for an afternoon then catch the bus back to Sydney. The 330 has stops along the main road next to the beach and is really frequent so it’s easy to get back to Sydney.

The morning started grey and cold, but the sun came out and made this an enjoyable walk. We took an easy bus ride from Sydney to Bondi and then followed the beach walk. There were many people of all ages, and you can walk as far or as short as you want. Many places to sit and enjoy the views, as well as restrooms and places to eat. We ended in Coogee, had lunch and took the bus back to Sydney. If I were to do this again, I would start in Coogee and end at Bondi. Either way its a great walk.

My recommendation is to start at Coogee and end at Bondi. There are stairs so wear comfortable shoes. Also another recommendation is when you start at Coogee you are on the left hand side of the path. When you end at Bondi there are many restaurants and bars where you can enjoy the view. This walk will talk anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours. Take your time and enjoy the views. There is also a cemetry along the way. This was interesting to see.

This is a great walk and really only take 2-3 hour going back and forth. It is great to see all the different coves and scenery. It’s better to start before 9 so you miss most of the crowds and you can hit the beach afterward. Bring at least a liter of water person but it’s ok because you will walk past shops and Cafes.
