Time of year
It takes a while to get there, but to see Fanne Alm is worth the effort. The village looks like hunderd years ago and the mountain views are breaththaking. It is worth to take 2 hours hike from Fanne Alm to Brixener Hutte.
Alm-feeling at its best. Street to get there is quite remarkable. Locally made cheese sold in one of the huts. Attention: location is a bit further up The Valley than the shown on TripAdvisor
It's a hut village at 1735m with some impressive surroundings. It was covered with snow when we visited, and it was in the middle of spring so it came as a nice change of pace for our holidays. Kids were playing, building a snowman, we were walking around, you know, a well-spent…
Definitely worth a visit. Come early (before 9 AM) and you can park right at the village. Later arrivals have to park at the start of the access road/path, about 4km away. Nice walk though ;)
We went as part of the hotel offers, had a nice half day and great local delicacies served by them. Recommended.
