Deep, blue water is always extolled. But the Kalterer Lake is green. The landscape around the lake is green. The air reflects tones of green. Every shade of green, forest green, vine green, field green, reed green... " and there it lies, a mirror of green". A. Komarek Mediterranean flair at LIDO, a new swimming facility with an architectural style that no one would have ever imagined. Rowing boats, sailing boats, paddle boats and surf boards glide by. Otherwise, it is peaceful; except, for the laugh of children, who are in paradise. It's beautiful in the lake, on the lake and all around the lake.

The lake is lovely, but not freely accessible. One needs to either go to the public beach/pool (and pay for it) or hope that the hotel has a lake access. Much of it is also a nature preserve and protected.

A nice and warm (they say it's the warmest in the Alps) lake laying in the middle of vineyards. Good for a short bath and a walk or hiking in the neighborhoods.

If you stay at Hotel Hasslhof you have free entrance to a private beachclub. Spacious lawn, nice beachbar/restaurant. Disadvantage:In the lake grows a waterplant with quite sharp leaves, which scratch your skin. The beach is not suited for little children.
