I went to the Bayeler Foundation for the Blue Rider exhibition and had a fantastic day. As widely reported in other reviews, the permanent collection is not currently open but will be soon (Feb 2017). I didn't mind as the Blue Rider exhibition was superb, with Kandinsky's famous Composition VII from Russia and Marc's only-slightly-less-famous Blue Horses from the US... More

We queued in the cold outside for an expensive ticket. No reduction for pensioners. Somehow immediately unfriendly. Although we know how expensive it can be to put on such ambitious exhibitions with major artists 25 Swiss francs is rather expensive for a quite modest exhibition space, and the catalogue was very expensive at over 64 francs, no paperback edition available.... ... when half of the building is closed off to get the next exhibition ready, we cannot see the permanent collection at all, but it is still the same price of 25 CHF per adult. Ok, all under 25 enter for free, but this is not fair and not mentionned by the ticket counter ;-(

If you love Art Beyeler is a MUST. The permanent collection is outstanding and you can check for the temporary shows with world class art from the likes of Koons, Basquiat, Richter, Rothko etc. The museum itself is beutiful, so is its restaurant and bookshop. Weather permitting stroll in the garden where they have open air concerts and other festivities.... More

This museum is advertised all around the city, works of Picasso, Van Gogh, Cézanne, Tinguely, etc. Sounds really enticing doesn't it? It's trickery. CHF 25 / person = about $33 CDN If you really want to waste a little less of your money here go on Mondays 10:00 - 16:00 hours when it's CHF 20 instead. When we got there,... More

An easy tram journey from downtown Basel, this art gallery is in a beautiful setting, and a beautiful building. It has special exhibitions which are well curated and typically offer a different perspective on familiar art. There is a restaurant on the property.

Having family in Basel, I visit the the city several times a year. I rarely skip the Beyler. The satisfaction with the visit varies with the interest one has in the given exhibit. However Renzo Piano's wonderful building, the views framed by the windows on three sides, the sculpture gardens, and the carefully curated objects from the permanent collection, always... More

Went to see a magnificent exhibition there on Franz Marc and Kandinsky. Yes, it is expensive - 25 euros to get in - but the quality is extraordinary

Having read Trip Advisor reviews from travelers who visited the museum when much of the permanent collection was not on view, I checked its website before deciding whether to go. I found no information about gallery closures. (If it was there, it was not prominently enough displayed for me to find it.) I decided to go anyway and take my... More

You should visit this museum for its architecture, for the landscapes and definitely for the exhibitions. A must see museum.
