Our host recommended this gallery as the best of 40 or so museums to visit in Basel . From the centre of Basel you need to take a tram to Fondation Beyeler stop . It's pricey on the tram but little alternative as it takes 1 hour 30 min to walk . The exhibition itself is not huge but set... More

See below for German I specifically want to write a review of the Rehberger Weg - 24 Stops. A friend and I signed up for the guided walk on Sunday, October 2 at 2pm “Architecture with Albert Gothe” departing from Vitra (in German) Mr Gothe was very knowledgeable and it was a very enjoyable walk. And it didn't cost a... More

Visited first time, the current exhibition "The Blue Rider" (der Blaue Reiter) is a fabulous collection of Art. It can be crowded - but well worth the effort. Will be back soon. The building itself is beautifully located in a fantastic garden, and adjoining is a very nice restaurant. It is recommended to come by public transport, and this is... More

The Blue Reiter Exhibition was very well composed, allthough i expected more of the later works of Kandinsky. The building and the gardens are superb. Unfortunately the temperature inthe building was quite cold (aircondition) that i caught a cold.

During our stay in Basel, we were invited to visit the Foundation Beyeler for the Blue Movement exhibition. The museum is easily assessable by public transport. Once into to gate, we are already inspired by the installation and architecture of the place. Unfortunately, half of the museum was closed. The exhibits are well placed and presented.

We were fortunate in being in Basel when the outstanding Blaue Reiter exhibition was on view at the Fondation Beyler. The building is wonderful and designed by Renzo Piano. The exhibition was first staged in Munich in 1911 and this is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to see outstanding work by Kandinsky, Marc, Munter, Jawlensky et al. Its... More

Very disappointed in the presentation of this museum. The entry fee is expensive despite the fact that all of the masterworks areas were closed due to an installation. We read the closure notice but believed it only pertained to two artists. When we discovered that is was all of the masterworks we immediately returned to the ticket office and requested... More

During our sty in Basel we visited the Fondation Beyeler located in a suburb of the city. On the other side of the road was a parking garage so it was very convenient to go by car, although it is also very accessible by tram from the centre of the city. The museum itself is a modern, light building with... More

One of the most breathtaking museums you will find. It is not huge so you can see most of it pretty quickly. Well priced for youth, students, and older people, but if you're paying full price it isn't cheap. Can be very busy at weekends too.
