We visited Blair Castle and Gardens on 6/11/2020 and were not disappointed. Magda was our tour guide and is one of the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guides we have ever met. You can tell she loves her job! Lots of interesting info. We are mazed at how many facts she can remember. Gardens are spectacular. Autumn colours are breathtaking.

Booked guided tour and guide was quite knowledgeable. Surprised how few rooms were shown. Cafe disappointing. Gardens were beautiful even in the rain.

Today we visited the Castle when I booked our time slot I read through the rules and regulations of COVID 19. It said on the booking form that they would only allow groups of 6 people from 2 different families. Well turned up today and there was myself and my husband a young lady on her own and a young couple so I thought that’s great only 5 of us. We entered the Castle and the lady taking the tour said we are waiting for more people so I presumed 1 more person would be joining us making 6 as per COVID 19 rules. Next thing 4 more people wandered in 2 couples making 9 people in total !! This totally contravenes the COVID rule of 6 and to top it all we were from 5 different families !! We enjoyed the tour but felt that Blair Castle let us down with their lack of adhering to the rules very disappointed with whoever has made up their COVID plan of keeping people safe. The rule of 6 people from 2 families came into practice on the 14th September I suggest if they want to keep and encourage people to visit the Castle you should stick to the regulations laid out by the Scottish Government !!!

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad you enjoyed your tour. Our policy as followed by all members of ASVA is as follows: Our guide led tours of the castle are socially distanced with a capacity of 12 visitors but under Government regulations effective from Monday 14th September, any sub-groups within the tour must be from one household and no larger than six people. This fully meets with guidance from the Scottish Government.

We went here with friends and unfortunately had not booked in advance for a tour of the castle so was slightly disappointed but that was down to us for not reading about this advance of our visit. That said, the grounds and gardens are marvelous and really well maintained. The only downside was the lack of food in the cafe, while this was down to the current COVID-19 pandemic the choice was very sparse while in similar venues a greater effort appear to have been made. The shop was extensive and staff really friendly. Our recommendation: Certainly worth a visit.

C19 meant we had to book 24 hours in advance with the result that after days of sunshine, we had a really very wet visit to the Castle. We had paid to visit the gardens but there was going to be no joy in that. No suggestion of a refund, of course ! C19 also had an impact on the castle visit. We had to go on a guided tour which was ok but space restrictions resulted in limited room viewings. The tour group was larger than I had expected (about 20). What we saw was interesting and worthwhile. My companion had visited previously and said much was lost as a result of lack of visits to the smaller rooms. Perhaps the Castle can develop creative ways of visitors seeing those rooms virtually ? Food availability was very limited: to machines drinks and mass marketing snacks. Nothing creative. The shop had relocated to The Ballroom so plenty of space for retail therapy for children's pocket money items or over-priced Highlands' goods. This probably sounds more negative than intended: it was a good use of a wet morning.
