Discover Blair Castle and go on a journey into the fascinating past of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl. Unique amongst Scottish castles, the story here leads you from Mary Queen of Scot's visit to the Civil War, and from the Jacobite cause to Queen Victoria's famous stay which led to the creation of Europe's only surviving private army, the Atholl Highlanders. Over 700 years of Scottish history are on display across 30 rooms. Highlights of the castle tour include the Baronial Entrance Hall, featuring weapons used at the Battle of Culloden; the classic Georgian styling of the Picture Staircase; the grandeur of the State Dining Room and Drawing Room; and the magnificent Ballroom, bedecked in hundreds of antlers. The Castle sits at the hub of a breathtaking historic landscape and the gardens and grounds feature a 9 acre walled garden, a peaceful wooded grove, a ruined kirk, a red deer park and a whimsical Gothic folly.

I had a visitor up from from the South Coast of England. Visit didn't get off to the best of starts because of a very frosty female on the ticket kiosk. She was very unwelcoming and didn't even pass the time of day to us. She was more interested in chatting to her colleague who was actually sitting in the... More

Just had the most lovely day at Blair Atholl castle and Hercules garden ☺️ Well worth a trip and great value for the whole family. The castle has all original furniture dating back over three hundred years. The Hercules garden is simply picturesque and an array of beautiful flowers and a beautiful pond that is so tranquil. It has a... More

Potentially an excellent place to visit. However the huge number of coach organised trips made it almost impossible to view the rooms Properly. We were told that we were on a self guided tour but the number guided tours mainly for coach loads of tourists made it impossible to enjoy the experience.

This stunning White Castle nestled in the rolling hills of Scotland truly takes your breath away. We took a horse trek through the wooded area by the castle, wandered its lush gardens and visited the Kirk where the Dukes of the castle are buried. Loved this place but I'm partial to it as there's a family connection to it.

We were staying locally and were curious about the gardens at the castle. We liked the Hercules garden with the small roundhouses for ducks and Japanese bridge and large ponds with a diversity of plants. But overall felt the grounds were missing something. I noticed there was nothing to engage young people apart from a few climbing frames in the... More

700 hundred years and 12 Dukes of history to cover in this very attractive Castle which has changed many times over the years from the 1300 to the present day. There is lots of rooms with lots of historical furnishings and other wall hangings and paintings throughout the building. Collections of swords, armour, muskets, and other war memorabilia. Good afternoon... More

Not sure if I reviewed when I first got home, but there were so many wonderful memories- especially areas outside of the castle. The first was the impressive bagpiper, playing in front of the castle. The outside of the castle is beautiful and makes you want to know more about how the people lived and the history behind the castle. Inside... More

We had an extensive tour of this fabulous and important Scottish Castle. Steeped in history and integral to Scotland's heritage we were enthralled. Arms, armour, furniture, ceramics, textiles,.. it has everything. The gardens looked lovely but sadly it was torrential rain for our visit so we only had a quick glimpse. One to return to on a finer day.
