Mediaval and historic

A must see if in the region. Probably the municipality would have to invest more to preserve it and do some small face lift of the small shops inside

We absolutely loved Rasnov, a great find. Everyone goes to Bran, Peles and Sinaia, and rightly so as they're great places, but if you don't visit Rasnov I think you're missing a real gem. The citadel is on a height and affords magnificent views of the pretty surrounding countryside. It has huge, imposing walls or ramparts that you can walk... More

nothing special the castle and the citadel itself. The surroundings and the nature, the forest, the view are really worth it! Ransom is a cute little town!

I visited the castle on the same day as Bran Castle and in comparison, Rasnov Citadel is is so much nicer than Bran Castle. It is less crowded as compared to Bran castle, has the medieval feel and great views. About 2-3hours spent here. Since there are limited information on this, I hope the following would be helpful. There are... More

You can pay 5 lei to take a tractor train to the top or walk a steep incline. I chose the former to save time. The fortress itself is 12 lei. The views walking up to the fortress and from the interior are lovely. The view of the countryside and Carpathians in particular is stunning and worth the 12 lei... More

This is just a few miles outside Brasov and an absolute must see. This area is all about fortifications- the houses in the Saxon villages have defensive walls and many of the villages have fortified churches to retreat to in times of attack. But Rasnov village (itself very pretty) had a whole fortress on the hill, allowing villagers to live... More

Rasnov citadelle is a medieval fortress with great views from up to two chains of mountains. Inside there are small souvenir shops. One can reach there on foot (ascending track of about 1km - not recommendable for aged people), or by mini cart from the parking in the Rasnov-Poiana Brasov road (5 Ron two ways for any person), or by... Been to the citadel several times in the last couple of years. It could use a little more attention. Same shops, same attractions and the overall impression is that the authorities have no funds to invest.
