Kornik Castle is not very big but well-kept containing a lot of historical artifacts and pieces of art. Price of admission is low but one has to pay extra to take pictures, use video camera, or park the car. Rooms are richly decorated. One problem with this attraction: requirement to wear slippers over regular footwear. While this may not be a problem for young visitors, elderly may find this practice dangerous as walking in these slippers is difficult.
Despite above issue, this place is worth visiting. We recommend it.

If I had to do this again. I would not. As I walked up to the house, I call it that because it's not a Castle, I was not impressed by the trash laying around the entrance. Also the trash floating in the moat was disappointing. It's an old place as is evident by the front of the house falling apart, and amateur patch jobs. Inside is a nice personal collection of rarities and antiques. Very limited information in English though. As others have said, you wear shoe covers in the house to protect the floor. It's ornate, but I wouldn't call it amazing. Upstairs is an interesting room with armor and weapons. The room itself is the best in the house with the arches and supports. Looks somewhat like Indian or Middle East influence. Besides that, just old furniture and paintings. If the price for entry and taking pictures was 14 źl, I'd say go for it. However it is an extra 10 źl to take pictures. That was not worth it. I took 4 pictures I could have done without. I only took them because I paid. I would recommend going in, seeing everything and then deciding if you want to pay to take a picture of it. Toilet is by the restaurant, 2 źl. Park entrance fee 6 źl, worth it for the nice stroll. Otherwise skip the Castle unless you are really bored.
One more tip, the slip on shoe covers on to the right of the main door when you come in. They won't tell you unless you speak Polish. Ladies were very polite though.

Was looking forward to touring this castle. We paid our 32 pln for our tickets. There were so many school tours going on we could not get anywhere near a room. The teacher would block off the door so he could talk to the students, but that meant no one else could get through. We tried to skip that section and go upstairs and that was impossible! So many kids sitting on the stairs we could not pass. After becoming very frustrated we decided to give up. Went outside and tried to see the gardens, but the woman wanted more money for tickets. We tried to explain we paid but didnt even see the castle, she didnt care. The castle staff should not let in that many school groups at once! Totally unorganized and very frustrating! We paid and left without seeing anything!

The history of the castle dates back to the first half of the fifteenth century, and its current form we owe to Tytus Działyński and reconstruction from the mid-nineteenth century in the style of English neo gothic. The castle is located near Lake Kórnicki, on an island surrounded by a moat.A great castle with a good collection of artifacts. Inside are beautiful floor spread out over different rooms.
Walking inside the castle will take about one hour. The architecture is spectacular. Maybe it is not the most beautiful castle you will visit, but after your visit you will be very glad you have done so.Kórnik Castle is worth visiting especially for the arboretum, which is one of the largest in Europe, with over 3300 species of trees and shrubs in a seemingly endless expanse of space. You could lose yourself in the acres and acres of magnificent trees and complete peace. You could spend hours and not see it all, and it is amazingly beautiful . It is breathtaking. It's recommended to visit the garden in spring or autumn. There is a parking space right in front of the castle.

You walk across a bridge over a moat to get to the castle and the first thing you're told to do is put some enormous over-shoes on in order to protect the parquet floors. You look ludicrous but everyone is wearing them, so ... and the floors really are fantastic; you can understand why they want to protect them.
Most, if not all, of the exhibits also have English descriptions which was nice to see. Although to read that a necklace was made of human teeth was a bit gruesome!
This is not a guided tour, so you go at your own pace and it is on two floors (you're allowed to take the over-shoes off to go up and down the stairs).
I enjoyed this and it took probably 30-45 minutes to do.

Unlike many stately homes in this part of the world Kornik missed the destruction of WW2. Of particular interest are the exquisite parquet floors and the upstairs room in the style of the Alambra palace. The castle is furnished with priceless antiques. I speak no Polish and the castle has few English speaking visitors yet there is some information in English in every room. The guides were extremely courteous and helpful. There is a lift for people with limited mobility to reach the upper floor. Allow about an hour for the visit and don't leave without visiting the coach house about 150 yards down the road on the opposite side.

The Castle is great as well as its collections on display but the gardens full of lush vegetation around the Castle will knock you down.

It is an interesting castle, well-preserved and well-maintained. Look and listen to the floors! Also the surrounding area is beautiful, the gardens, the lake. We really enjoyed our afternoon here.
