This is a lovely place to come to see. The countryside is absolutely amazing to look at. The farm, mill and all the surrounding building are well looked after by the National Trust. I checked the website to check the mill was open and so...More

The whole village is owned by the National Trust And is very pretty. A short walk around the village, with the spots from which Constable painted marked. All the buildings are beautiful, especially the Mill (which doesn’t appear in any of Constable’s paintings but was...More

If your looking for a peaceful walk, seeing wildlife and relaxing this is the place. My family live local and it’s somewhere we’ve always good to put a smile on our faces.

Strangely, this National Trust property is NOT very clearly sign posted, a deliberate policy we were told! Flatford Mill consists of a number of associated attractions all grouped together. There is Willy Lott's cottage, prominent in Constable's painting 'The Hay Wain', Flatford Lock, Flatford Mill,...More

Lovely location, well laid out, informative guides, typically nice NT cafeteria - we were very lucky with the weather, gloriously sunny which helped, quirky electric boat ride was nice and relaxing - footpaths through the countryside - flat terrain therefore not taxing at all....

We visited earlier in the summer on a gloriously sunny day. The tour was led by Kim Smith who shared her obvious enthusiasm for Constable and his work with us. Her energy and knowledge made the trip for us (despit her corny jokes!).

What I am reviewing here is actually Flatford, a village maintained by the National Trust, of which Flatford Mill is just one element. However, Tripadvisor appears to put the whole lot under the heading of the mill. I actually came to this lovely spot, initially,...More

As a child I’d often visited Flatford and on this bank holiday decided it was a great opportunity to introduce our 3 children to this stunning and ubiquitous Essex spot. The river is calm and allows plenty of places to stop and picnic; some organised...More

I think it is just a car park charge but as a national trust member I don't have to pay. Sure it will be on website. Lovely place.

Yes I would think so but not on a road bike. A mountain bike or possibly hybrid may be ok as long as ground is solid..as in summer
