A warm welcome and fantastic setting are two other reasons other than sampling Gianluca’s amazing pizza at drift. My wife and I went 3 times on our recent trip. Perfect for a Friday night for casual cocktails and fabulous pizza. You won’t be disappointed.

We have had cocktails at The Drift Bar many times over the years and really enjoyed the ambience, however, last Friday we were bitterly disappointed to say the least. We were given a very frosty reception on arrival. There was nowhere free to sit, several places had reserved signs on them, however, in the time we took to drink our cocktails no one sat at the tables. The waiter/manager was not welcoming or helpful. We asked if we could sit at a table on the edge of the Drift Bar that was vacant but the waiter said it belonged to The Beach House next door. I went over and spoke to the staff at the restaurant who said we were very welcome to sit there and the space was actually part of the Drift Bar. We would have ordered some food at the Drift with our drinks, they have a pizza oven which had opened that day, again, however, although the chef was trying to help us they didn’t have any of the ingredients advertised that we wanted for the pizza, extraordinary considering it was pizza night! We decided we were not welcome so after one drink we decided to leave, again it took a long time to get our bill and there was no interaction with the waiter/manager once again, he had no customer service skills whaatsover! This is one of the only really nice bars we usually enjoy going to during our stay in Barbados, but we will think twice now before going back. We walked down the road to Zacchios after leaving the Drift bar where we were greeted with a smile and drinks orders taken and delivered with excellent service. It’s doesn't take much effort to greet customers and make them welcome Drift Bar didn’t get it right.

We were at the Smokehouse event, as confirmed we arrived for our 8pm reservation. After being seated we waited patiently for our waiter. She came and provided us with water after 30 minutes and instructed that the person for the order would come but there would be a little wait. An hour passed and we were still unattended. We watched others come and leave. However, after that one conversation there was no further communication. No-one updated on the wait, our table had no water and there was just noone at all. My party spent 1hr 30minutes just waiting. I must say we were very annoyed and disappointed as we not only wasted our time but we were hungry. Our first experience at The Dift and it was such a negative experience. After reading reviews we had such high expectations. There were some positives like the atmosphere and beautiful decorations along with the view of the ocean but after such an experience should anyone ask we would not want to recommend them to the drift restaurant. We are sad that this was the outcome. Perhaps in future they can have more staff or better organization.

Hi mnmh2015, We sincerely apologise that the recently held Smokehouse event did not deliver the level of service or quality that you would have expected from Drift Ocean Terrace Lounge. Drift is not a restaurant but we have "Pop UP" events like the one recently organised by Smokehouse and hosted by Drift which features guest caterers providing the cuisine and additional staff. This was the first one that 'Smokehouse' has held at Drift... Again, we apologise for your poor experience. We hope to meet your expectations in the future. - The Drift Team

We were based in Dover Beach during our stay but drove up to Holetown to sample the beaches on the west coast. We stopped off here for a cocktail and to watch the sun go down and it was fabulous - a perfect setting in both senses! There is no beach in front of the bar but there is a boardwalk and although we didn't eat there, the restaurant next door, which I think is part of the same place, looked lovely too. Cocktails are not cheap but with the British Pound so low, we found everything to be quite expensive. Definitely worth a visit!
