As for most of the ancient villages in Kurdistan, security is a key, so, you cannot see the Palangan, if you are not very close to it; it's almost hidden afar (we are not talking about new buildings). A stepped village (or stair village) with an eventful history where, still, you can see their ancient traditions such as celebrating nowrooz (new year of Iranian). There are everything; traditional village, river, mountain, dance, celebration; life.

The village is very beautiful and some how very unique. It has stairway architecture and it's located in the slop of a mountain and rocks. you have drive at least one hour from the closest city so give it an enough time. there is also some delicious barbecue trout fishes near the village that you can enjoy while your visiting. bring an appropriate hat or sun cream or shoes because you have to walk around. remember to bring your camera, you may find beautiful nature, locals and old houses in your visit.

We stayed 2 nights at Palangan Village.
Its hard to find homestay with great view but we managed to find one. Allahkhadam Homestay (09188779146), simple homestay but with great view and nice hospitality.

Palangan is a quite popular picknick spot in Iranian Kurdistan
,looks like something from out of this world, fitting better in a fairy tale or the Middle East than in the modern world.
The houses that situated on both sides of the river on the hillside have created a stepped architectural style. The roof of the lower house is the yard of the upper house.
Kurdistan in general is at its full glory during spring,Without a doubt the best time to visit Palangan is during the late March.
Mid or late spring would be the time to go as plains are fully green, trees are covered in blossoms and strawberries are to be found everywhere. Temperatures in Palangan will be delightful during the day and gets very chilly at midnight.

In addition to the marvelous nature of this village, the local customs and culture of people are the other notable attraction of Palangan Village

Don't forget to eat Barbecued fish ,which is one of the most famous local dish here and it’s absolutely delicious that is worth to try it. Along the route to the waterfall, you can find many picnic spots and restaurants serving it.

you can get to Palangan by taxi from the city of Kamyaran. The taxis for Palangan are mostly grouped in a similar area, typically on Salahaddin Ayoobi Street near Emam Shafeiee Square .
Also you can go to there from Sanandaj (the capital city of Kurdistan Province). It is about two hours of driving. You can go by bus, taxi or private cars.

If you like visiting ancient villages or interested in virgin nature, Palangan is one of the best choices for you. This village has a fantastic architecture. Houses in the village are built in a steep gorge which allows for the rooftop of one house to serve as the yard for the house above.

The weather is extremely hot at this time of the year , around 43 degree centigrade .
It’s a 1000 year old small mountain village with nice type of houses which one roof top is another Neighbor’s yard and build on carved mountains .
There is nice small river passing thru village which helped us to cool down .
Very nice and hospitable people , we tried a restaurant which served fish kebab like other restaurants, trout is very popular ,

we tried it it is highly recommend , unique taste as they use mountain veggies and herbs to make it super delicious, ask for traditional local bread called Saji.

We also bought some local honey also delicious .

It’s best to go by car almost 2 hours drive from Sanandaj , road and scenery is nice , there is a lake on the road which is worth to stop and enjoy .
Don’t take bus as it delays your journey due to several stops .
Taxi is also available , arrange for lake stop.

The best time for visit is in the middle of spring . You can find plenty of tours offering this two or three days trip from Tehran or you can fly to Kermanshah on your own and then Kamiyaran city. From there you can find taxies that take you there and back again

A hidden treasure in Kurdistan region of Iran, beautiful village and very nice scenes to walk around. Very welcoming and polite local people.
Be prepared for farm odors.
There are clean and affordable restaurants in the village that serve meat, fish, rice and stews.
