West Bay is what many consider the picture-perfect Caribbean destination: white sand, clear, calm waters and full service resorts. The variety of water activities include scuba diving, fishing charters, snorkeling and parasailing. Scuba diving and other outfitters leave directly from the beach so starting your water-based activities is easy and convenient.

West bay beach is clean and full of bars and restaurants. It is a cool place to hang out and have fun under the sun. Good snorkeling on the east side of the beach.

Popular public beaches are not my favorite places to be, but West Bay, at least in the off season, was very enjoyable. There are hotels, restaurants and vendors offering entertainment options the entire length of it. You must learn to say No to the vendors,...More

We stay in West End when we visit Roatan, but we come to West Bay when we want some easy yet beautiful snorkeling. The far end by the lava rock is where the snorkeling is best. There's even a fun underwater path with signage and...More

Safe beach to have a relaxing swim. Yes, you can snorkel off the beach but it's only up one end. Otherwise, there's plenty of locals flogging off their boat rides to the reef. Actually, you could snorkel to the reef of the beach if you're...More

I think all of those who responded before me gave accurate information and good options. I took a cab from the airport and it cost $30. It was about 30 minutes, but there were no ships in port so probably less traffic.
