Small but beautifully created and maintained temple. We were graciously shown around by the resident monk, who explained the beautiful art works in the temple.

Advised to go there by our fantastic guide Asela (who is based just outside the Shinagawa Beach Hotel). A short steep winding Tuk Tuk ride up the hill and you come to the Temple.

Still under restoration bu an amazing sight. Apparently it is bad luck to stand facing a camera with the Buddha in the background. Hence your back should be facing the camera. (hopefully that is true!)

You can spend about 30-60 minutes here seeing one of the largest lying buddha's in the world

Not quite literally, but an enlightening little stop nonetheless. We were met by a charming holy man who patiently guided us through the temple and the amazing sculptures and artwork depicting the story of Buddha. Both interior and exterior are stunning. The architecture is interesting and as I understand it, the church-like structure remains a curiosity with no definitive explanation. Delighted we visited.

Really beautiful temple, nice to hear the story about Boeddha's life and friendly guide. The complete tour lasted +/- ten minutes. At the end the guide asked us a donation, which is normal. We gave him a smaller amount than he expected and he laughed right in our faces. It felt really uncomfortable. To make matters worse, he showed us a book with all the big donations he received the past few years, indicating the amount he wanted. I'm sure he had all the good intentions of the world, but it sure didn't feel that way. If there's a fixed price to visit a temple, we don't mind it at all, but it should be indicated before we enter.

Ideal place, to understand Budha. There is a well spoken guide and carer of the temple to give you a tour and story.
Lots of detailed models depicting his life.
Be aware of the giving of a monetary gift, there are 2, one for temple and one for guide

A beautiful little temple very close to the RIU and Heritance hotels, with many colourful statues and displays depicting the life of the Bhudda. We were hosted by a most friendly monk whose name escapes me but he spoke excellent English and explained the Bhudda's life story whilst displaying a serene calmness that befitted the venue.
