This place is protected under RAMSAR Wet land conservation. Many varieties of mangrove trees can be seen here including a huge bio diversity. You can have a boat ride through mangrove trees and a fish therapy for your feet. There are so many little islands in this river.

Actually we saw only one monkey and it belongs to somebody, but cute anyhow. Our boat driver was the coolest one on that day driving his boat more fasten than the others. We also visited in a fish farm, where the fishes "eats" our foot.... Also the cinnamon bay was a nice place to visit. Though it was a tourist... More

Wonderful experience. Two hours worth every second. See the traditional Shrimp farming techniques used by the locals, Learn the ways of local Cinnamon Farmers, Take a turn in floating fish spas, Learn about the local community at the Temple Island, "Koth Doova" And most importantly, Have a relaxing break into the nature.

fish spa and the boat ride in hidden mangroves is one of the best feelings ever had!!! A must feel! There are enough and more places that provide boat rides. The famous one is Captain;s boat house but we found out that to be a bit expensive... If you put a walk along the area you can find some competitive... More

Perhaps we expected something similar to the backwaters of Kerala and our expectations were a little too high but we found our boat trip around Madu River to be just ok (maybe a 3.5 stars). It's pleasant enough to travel up and down a part of the river but, apart from a few birds (they certainly were not abundant), we... More

Maybe I just expect a lot and get disappointed. I would say its very average. The only awesome part is the 5 to 10 mins of going thru a mangrove. The cinamon island or the fish massage is average and could be done anywhere else. I cant say its overpriced. In the western world we would not get anything for... More

The calm waters, the mangrove bushes, the shrimp fishers, the fish treatment places and the big Maduganga lake itself was a memorable experience. The munk at the Kotdoowa Rajamaha Viharaya temple demanded a donation in exchange of a short prayer and a piece of thread tied round your wrist!
