Being lucky to live in this village with the chateau on our doorstep.Certain days the grounds are open to the public, and you can meander through the extensive grounds and gardens. Their house is normally not included, however the views of the house and surrounding land is well worth enquiring about. You could have a tour arranged by just being outside the garden door about 17-00 when one of the staff takes you around. The count and countess are an integral part of the village and participate in many of the functions. In keeping with the tradition of opening up historic buildings,I think it’s in the autumn you can have a tour with other visitors. Pictures of the chateau don’t do it justice,a magnificent structure. Two of the towers had had extensive stonework replaced to the balconies that took a couple of years to complete. Try googling the village and see the photos.

There are so few chateaux in France now lived in, it was wonderful to see one which was a family home, and not a museum. It was a lovely late September day, sunny, warm, not too much wind, and the scaffolding for the renovation works on the garden side had just been taken down that morning! Perfect. Our host was the most perfect gentleman, and though he only spoke French, he was easy to understand, bringing out the history - it is 300 years this year since his family owned the chateau. His wife made an appearance, as did the dog ... loved by many of our party ... the gardens were indeed beginning to look like winter was on the way, and the winery was in full flow (it is vendange time here), but the gardens are so extensive ... for a small chateau surrounded by the village ...it is a perfectly formed little chateau, of a human size, the roofs will remind you of Amboise, but there the comparison ends ... such a human scale. Worth the detour, as they say!

Visited this privately owned Chateau with a Facebook Photography Group, we had planned to visit the previous day but storms would have made getting there difficult, the owners were very accommodating and agreed it would be better to postpone a day. Its obviously out of season so they take booked groups. Summer they have hourly tours of the house and gardens. The owner himself took us round, and due to the storm flattening much of the garden, showed us more of the interior and restoration areas left to do, which apparently isn't normally seen. They have done a remarkable job, there are several themed gardens which I think normally you would be left to explore, however we were guided and told about each area and why they had planted what they had (theme is to have all year greenery). Its very photogenic, and one of the few castles open to the public in the area.
