It rained a lot of the time we were here but it is in a beautiful location and would love to have spent longer walking round the area is the weather had been better. Still very picturesque, even in the rain!!! There are a few small tourist shops here but the main attraction is the scenery although most people come... More

Spent some time here a couple of years ago on a road trip stopover, seeing the glacier Briksdal a few miles up the river. This time we boarded a bus and visited Gerainger via Dalsnibba returning via Hellesylt. We were fortunate that the weather was clear blue skies and no cloud. We had an itinerary and saw some amazing views,... More

Very picturesque the mountains come right down to the ship. Snow still shows on the top and the air smells clean and fresh.

Forget all the hype about Briksdal. Yes you can see a fast disappearing glacier but for the cost the cruise companies will charge forget it and go for a walk around Lake Floen instead. Turn right from the docks through the petrol station and a quick walk along the road will take you to a left turn signposted for the... More

The view and the area are very recommended. If you are driving by recomended to stay a night. The Briksdal glacier is very close- 20 km. The various of resturant is very poor.

....... and our highlight of the cruise we were on with Cunard. Fully recommend the Oldevatnet Lake Cruise which includes a very nice coach journey with a couple of stops and the lake cruise up to Birksdal Glacier - very lucky with the weather and hope you are likewise. Best to book this before you get to Olden as part... More

Even by Norwegian standards Olden is something special. From the little Olden village at the mouth of the valley to the Briksdalsbreen glacier at the steep end it is such a beatiful and serene landscape forcing your pulse down. You feel sort of protected by nature itself. Nice camping sites all over and mostly unspolied nature to walk around in.... More

This is a great town to visit in the region, featuring two beautiful churches. The sail up to the town is beautiful. The surrounding area is all very beautiful and a great place to take some bikes around.

Olden is charming and beautiful.. The best place to visit is Briksdale Glasier and try to rent a bicycle for a couple of hours to explore the village.
