What a fantastic 2 trips with Kylmamaa. We had some trouble booking the trip on line but all the issues were resolved quickly and efficiently by Marika in the office for which nothing is too much trouble. The dog sledding was great, we took the longer 16k trip which meant 2 hrs with the dogs, am experience bot to be forgotten. The next trip was a snowmobile trip to visit the snow Village. We were led by Becca who gave us a thrilling trip on the snowmobiles to the snow village and back. I cannot recommend this company enough, the company is small and offer a very personal experience. Thanks for a great trip

We booked the evening snowmobile trip which included snacks at the Kota over the fire, and the whole experience was wonderful. Our guide Heikki was very friendly and funny, and really made sure our experience was great.

He brought along some vegan sausages for me and grilled them over the fire, and then even brought vegan pastries for after. The reindeer flatbread was also really enjoyed.
Hot berry juice was delicious, as was the freshly made pot of coffee.

We ended up with a private trip as no one else booked and it was perfect! 10/10 would recommend to everyone!

We are not long back from snowmobiling and I really have to do a rave review for Kylmamaa.

We are staying at Yllas log cabins and we were pocked up and dripped back but the lovely Christian.

My son has ASD and he had a melt down at putting on the boots and outerwear provided as well as something on his head under the helmet. Christian was so patient and so kind throughout. I was going to stay behind with my son and just hubby go but Christian went out of his way to help ensure we could all go.

Myself and son went round behind Christian in the pod.

Honestly, would could of been a really usetting and stressful time was made manageable but the kindness and understanding Christian showed. My son ended up falling g asleep for the first half and thoroughly enjoyed the second!!!!

Go to lapland in winter, when everything looks white and temperature are never over zero. This is the real Lapland and only like this it is possible to understand a bit of their way of life.
Don't be afraid of those -30 C ... Just cover your self as much as you can with appropriate clothes and go smiling.
Kylmama Tours is well organized and managed by a nice person, Tula, the elder sister of Pippi longstocking... :) no remarks about their organization just relay on them and get all the fun of the "extreme" experineces (extreme for us... Normal for them!).

We booked for a Northern lights snowmobile safari to start at 10pm. At midday it was obvious that we would not see the northern lights (it was blowing a blizzard). But the tour operator does not offer alternative dates if the weather will clearly not give you a chance to see the northern lights. Fair enough that they can't control the weather and it is your luck, but they could offer an alternative date (as they did on a similar trip we did in Iceland). Instead the tour operator said that we would enjoy the snowmobile ride. It was fun although we could have just saved money and hired a snow mobile rather than guided tour for northern lights we would clearly never stand a chance to see. So we braved a 2 hour trip on a snowmobile with a short stop at a cabin for a hot drink. That was the entirety of the trip. Only one other family were fool enough to risk it. Transfers to the site were good and the guide was very friendly. Shame they couldn't show flexibility and accommodate us on to a day later in the week when there could have been even the slightest chance of the northern lights instead of driving a snowmobile in these conditions. It could have simply been called a snowmobile ride and this wasn't what we paid for

We are both 80 and booked a snowmobile trip to the Snow Village.
At the end our guide made us move the snowmobiles really close together, he kept urging me forward until I touched the vehicle in front. A small piece of plastic came off and the guide said not to worry but we’d have to “do the paperwork”.
Next thing we knew the manager appeared and said we’d have to pay hundreds of euros, cash then and there for the repair.
We asked how much, he said he didn’t know but he’d “call the engineer”. He said parts weren’t made in Finland and were hard to get. He then pretended to make a call to the engineer and then said “he’s busy so he’s not answering”. He then showed us a note on his phone saying this same thing happened a few weeks ago and this was the quote from the engineer for the repair. The note said the repair would cost about €700. He then started pressurising me to pay him then and there. He kept pushing for cash asking if I could pay now or comeback tomorrow. I said he could invoice me as I thought this was very fishy behaviour. He kept on asking me for cash. By this point everyone else on the trip had been taken back to the hotel and they left my wife and I stranded. We had to remind them they were supposed to be taking us back to our hotel.
I’ve since found out that all snowmobiles are insured under finish law and this was a scam to make me pay €700 for nothing. They made me bump into the other snowmobile on purpose. DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE PEOPLE! Will be reporting to the local
Police after taking legal advice.
