This is a visitors' centre of the state forest agency providing all kind of services for outdoor life in the north. Here they have a nice exibition about how it used to be in Lapland ages ago. They have non-stop films about Lapland. There is always a rotating exibition of local artist's. There is a small library, PC-service, book shop... More

We walked to the visitor centre and were surprised that it was so informative about the local area, etc. We had a coffee and snack in the restaurant which was very good also.

My wife and I visited this visitor centre during a recent holiday. We found it very interesting and informative and it was great to fins out a little more about the history of the place we were visiting. The views from the café are very good too.

Basic info about the region. Particularly good for those looking for details on snow trekking in the national park. Also houses a small gallery, souvenir shop, cafe and small museum on local history.

On the left hand side as you go up to the ski centre. Worth stopping at and now it has a KINO Movie Theatre. It wasn't open when we were there as it was off season but I'm sure it's going to be popular.

I visited the Kellokas Visitor Centre whilst passing through Akaslompolo. Exhibition, which was free to enter, was very interesting and informative. They also have a small shop with competitive prices. Staff were also very helpful and spent time answering our wuestions. Well worth a visit.

This place is a 10-minute walk down the hill from the Y1 ski center at Akaslompolo. The cafe is OK, but nothing very special for me. It's worth coming here to see the exhibition of life in Lapland - lots of interesting stuff as a way to spend an hour or so. There are good walks and cross-country ski trails... More
