Dont waste your time. Not worth, only if you have extra time yo spend on Olot. Has a nice view of the city, but nothing more that that, if you expect to see volcano or crater, there is nothing close to that. In the crater there is big forest

We walked up this hill (extinct volcano) one morning and enjoyed the views from the top. Lots of birds singing - a bit of country in the town. The crater itself is overgrown. Views in all directions beg for photographs.

When we arrived in Olot, first we visited local Tourist office - and I advice you to do the same.
In tourist office you can find map of Olot, with schemas of footpathes from one point of interest to another.
There is an acceptable round path from tourist office location to volcano (on the way we saw several nice baroque buildings), climb to the top (with a "main way" alley) and return in another way (down with a "side path").

We have chosen a bit mistaken way - we climb to the top with "side path" - which is opened to hot sun, and return down with nice alley. I would advice to climb with alley - it is more comfortable, with benches on the way, and with trees which give a shadow.

On the top we found several viewing towers, crater, a chuch.
(also we found a toilet)
There is a nice view to city, other 2 nearest volcanos and mountains.

To tell the truth, the state of equipment on the top of volcano is not good: viewing towers with rusty staircases and ragged walls (you can see it on my picture), crater overgrown with shrubs, the church requires renewal, toilet is neglected and about unusable.

But the path is interesting and I recommend to make this trip.

It's definitely worth the hike up to this chapel and the bar, with friendly staff and an excellent selection of food and drink. There are also fantastic views of the Garrotxa area. The crater of the "volcano" might have been exciting a few million years ago, but not do much these days...

Excellent for the slow travel tourists or simply if you are visiting Olot. It is a must go visit place in the city.

On the top of the volcano you will be pleased with the most scenic view of the city and surroundings. A awesome place for child and adults, to take a sunbathing or rest in the shade at the foot of a tree or read a book.

Olot is a cool place, where you can see/ go up old volcanoes, into the craters.
Montsacopa is the best to visit, as it has the greatest views from the top of the city and surrounding mountains.
You can go down into the crater & if you think about it, it is really awesome, but the view itself is not anything special - just some grass and trees.
Given the short walk that it takes to get up there, it is totally worth it &, if you're in Olot, you must go up there.

Nice views for a rather common place
Being so close to Olot's downtown, Mostsacopa is one of the easiest and most accessible options if you are looking for visiting one of the many volcanoes this area is famous for. You will find a remarkable climb which is actually a Christian Calvary in your way to the top of the mountain, where a shrine and some ruins of an old tower stand surrounding a big hole covered by the bush. Not very impressive tough, even when it offers undoubtedly one of the best views of the town. The climb is worth if you are looking for a scenic picture, but if you want to visit a really stunning volcano in the thereabouts, Cruscat is the place to go.

This is one of the several acient volcanos located in this small town.

There is a parking area at the foot of the mountain. The path is well maintained and walking uphill is not hard at all.

Once on top of the hill, the view of the town and nearby mountains is so beautiful that I did not want to leave.

A very special experience.

Great views of Olot from the top. Have some coffee and enjoy the views of an old church and the city around you.
