I found this an interesting little walk and the views of the beach from the view point were to die for. Not many birds about though. Seen a few interesting lizards though. :)

Myself and the wife did this walk one morning and it was very enjoyable. Easy walking on a footpath through a wooded area leading to a viewpoint overlooking the sea and Playa Esmerelda Beach. Only one short hill to go up which wasn't very steep....More

Playa Esmeralda, which the Sol Rio de Luna y Mares resort beaches on, is known for being a fabulous location to snorkel. But, also close by, is the Las Guanas forest, an inexpensive ($3.00 cucs) but impressive archeological area, within close proximity of the hotel....More

2nd time we've been here. It's best to wear trainers because there are some fairly steep and uneven pathways along this trail. It's not wheelchair/pushchair friendly (although we did take a pushchair with us on a previous visit.....but this had to be lifted/carried many times)....More

Read the Walk. Watch your step. Not too exciting. Good Time waster. 3 cuc. No sandals for walking on the trail.

Las Guanas trail is adjacent the resort Sol Rio de Luna y Mares, Playa Esmeralda. So you need to take the open-roofed double decker shuttle bus from Guaradavaca market area to Sol Rio de Luna y Mares resort.....10-15 min... More

Take the open top bus or horse and cart taxi, it's just to the left of the Sol Luna and mares hotel, it's about 5 miles away. There is a nice lagoon to the right of the sol luna hotel just by the riding centre which is full... More

It's next door to hotel sol Luna et mares so was ideal for us to spend a little time walking the trail. Not sure if have made a special trip to it though.
