Such a nice, well-preserved medieval town. The sunset is spectacular over Lake Murten. In summer it offers a lot of water sports opportunities: sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, wakeboarding, surf-biking, rowing, pedalo boating, canoeing, lake kayaking and angling.

Murten is certainly well preserved: we walked all over and on the city walls, everything is well tended, flowers everywhere, very pretty place.

This is a beautiful lakeside town in Fribourg Canton which is a great tourist destination. It exists at the confluence of french and german culture which is wonderful. The Murtensee is also a sight of beautiful sight of nature. Worth a short weekend visit.

I'd read about this area of Switzerland changing from Swiss German to Swiss Romande in the wink of an eye and it's true! We'd been cycling around Lac Morat and hearing other walkers speaking French and saying 'bonjour' then suddenly we crossed the canal and...More

This little town is often overlooked by American tourists who set their eyes on the more well known towns of Switzerland. This charming medieval town still has its city walls and gives you a full day of entertainment. You can visit old churches and walk...More
