The castle of the Guidi is very well preserved and was built presumably by the father of Arnolfo di Cambio and it is the prototype with which was built later the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. Very interesting is the great cantilevered staircase, the first of...More

It was fun finding this castle and parking in the small old town on the hill. There is a small fee to enter. The inside of this castle has some furnishings and is very reminiscent of the times, with a good audio tour that is...More

I was attracted to this castel as I had seen it once on a photograph in a travel guide. The picture showed the castle from far, on the top of a hill with clouds hanging around it providing a mysterious look. On a sunny day...More

The castle was in good shape and the audio guide was useful. The story behind Lady Matilda kept our 2 pre-teens spooked. The climb up the tower was worth the view. Fun was had by the whole family.

Life in the 1300s was political and vindictive! Come and see this castle, learn about the feuding parts of Italy and who won! The castle itself is also very nice and you'll enjoy the views.

Came here with our 15yr old daughter and spent 2 hours wandering around the various rooms and listening to the audio guide. Excellent value at €5 each & a lovely outdoor café located just over the road.

Super castle, stunning location. Well preserved. Very Good visitor experience, with access to the castle inside and out, including prison tower, reception halls, and even a gallery (with a fab collection of paintings by Viktoriya Bubnova, from July to Sept 2016)

A cosy and nice area, the keep is inhabited as it was always. A nice festival took place when we were there.

This is a small castle on the hill in Poppi. The views from the tower especially are stunning, though the old wooden staircase is not for the faint hearted. Inside the main castle many rooms are not open to the public and the main hall...More
