I always like viewing points, where you can reach the top by yourself.
Of course, not so impressive as Lajų takas.:)
The church is cosy, a quite simple. Good atmosphere here.

The church is really beautiful. An example of ancient Lithuanian small-town churches. The sightseeing place on the tower is a good idea, but everything you see is actually the houses of Anyksciai... Having in mind that there are two more sightseeing towers with a more beautiful views, this one is not worth climbing.

The tower works 10-16 on Sunday. The price for adult is 1 euro. Climbing is comfy, the stairs are really comfortable. The view is perfect, you can see the whole city and hear the history from the microphones. Recommend.

The Church of Apostle Evangelist St. Matthew is one of the
attractions in Anyksciai. My hosts took me to this impressive
exposed brick structure with two tall spires, and a lot of
detailed architectural features, and stained glass windows. The
place has been renovated extensively. The main entrance leads
into the main hall, with high ceilings, and is bathed with
natural light coming in from the large high windows, with lovely
stained glass art. The chandeliers, the pulpit, the main
sanctum sanctorum are all impressively decorated. The church
organ is on top of the entrance area. There is a small play area
for little children. There are some impressive paintings on the walls.
We took the Euro 1 ticket per person, to go to the top of the
bell-tower. This has an flight of stairs, showing the basic
structure of the church. The metal structure is quite modern. The
view from the top is extremely impressive, with the wired
fencing, through which one can see the metal crosses on top of
the spires, and the whole city in perspective, including the
stream in the distance. The bells are quite ancient, and
impressive, on top of the entire structure. This part is quite
basic, with the wood, brick and concrete showing. We also took a
walk in the gardens around the church, which have a totem-pole, a
carved statue of Mother Mary, a wooden carving, a stone
sculpture and an intricate cross, amidst the greenery of the gardens.
A must-see in Anyksciai!

It was quite a challenge to climb the stairs, but it's really nice to see the top of the tower. Good energy. Nice views. Nice exposition and information about the history.

For a very small entry fee you can walk up a lot of stairs and enjoy a beautiful round view of the area. The church is also worth visiting, beautiful maintained and impressive in size.

It's an old church in Anykśckai which is good as viewing point to see all town. You need to claim and is no access for a wheelchair. The entrance costs €1. The problem is just that all windows are covered with metal fence which makes hard to make a pictures. But anyway I would recommend to visit it as probably it's the only one place in Anykščiai where you can see all the town.

Given the fact that we live just a few kilometers from the tallest church in the world (Ulmer Munster), the church in Anykščiai might be not too impressive. Nevertheless, climbing up and the view from the top was quite a nice experience. Good idea to waste half an hour for only 1€ ;) Our child (1,5 yrs) appreciated that!
