We took the cable car from the visitors center. The specific exhibits took about 1.5 to 2.5 hours to visit and absorb the information.

Don't take the cable car if you are able to manage a moderate hike. The Masada site opens at 5am and make sure you arrive on time so that it allows you 45 minutes to climb to the top and also position yourself for sunrise....More

Also, as you go, notice the tremendous drop in the level of the Dead Sea. You'll see evidence of where it has been all along as you do, and where it is now. Since the 1950's, it has dropped more than 130 feet!
