North to Ioannina , close to the Albanian border the viewpoint is located in the Vikos village. Leaving the car one have to climb a short but a very steep ascent, about 40 m. From the road. However, the effort is worth it.There you you will find a nice restaurant/cofeeshop with some chairs to rest with a a wonderfull view on an impressive cliff which reminds a casttle. Nearby there is also a pergola with benches for those who doesn't want to use the restaurant.

My family and I drove the 7km from Monodendri to the viewpoint. Once there we walked along the narrow cliff shelf for the best views - this was more than a bit scary. Be careful!
The gorge has been recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the deepest relative to its width. Spectacular!

Its a great national park. Lots to do. You can hike the canyon but that takes 6 hours. We didnt do that. We went to the viewing point and that wasnt difficult to get to. You can drive there. You park and then walk a little. Wasnt difficult. Under way you drive trough a verry beautifull wilderness with strange stone slab formations. Stone forrest the call it. We stayed in konitsa. also great to walk the river at the old bridge.

After travelling throughout Greece for four weeks I was aching to get into the countryside, away from touristy destinations and to feel more authentic experiences. Love this Gorge and surrounds of villages, museums, sanctuaries, cafes and local photography exhibition. Enjoyed very much the autumn leaves, fresh air and spectacular views. Some of the deeper reaching tracks along the Vikos Gorge ridge be careful and walk at own risk otherwise wonderful. I was lucky enough to have a great local guide as a taxi driver who took me to a few local villages nearby and through some great winding roads with superb views. If you want mountains instead of sea and tourists this is a place to go.

Small village that offers fantastic view at the Vikos Gorge and also very close (you can use the path) to the Voidomatis river springs.

The Grand Canyon of Greece! Beautiful landscape. A small walk to get there but really worth the visit.

A short walking distance that start just before the square. Near the view point a small shop with local home made olive oil, jems and artistic items
