We did this trip on our own so that we could do it at our own pace. Took the train to Melk from Westbanhof station.Bought combination tickets for the train and boat. Pretty town Melk with its beautiful Abbey. What we enjoyed the most was the boat ride on the Danube passing vineyards, castles and pretty villages as it sailed along... More

Mario, our guide, was awesome. He took us around a tour of this magical valley of terraces and the Danube. The views are fantastic. The tour begins in Vienna on-time (no kidding). Nice and safe-driving to the valley. They take you first to the largest cooperative of the Wachau, then you have a choice of walking the small town of... More

We wanted a week-long inn-to-inn walking trip in the beautiful and historic Wachau Valley, and were delighted that we chose Eurohike. They booked us into charming hotels along the route, transported our luggage every day so all we had to carry was a small day pack, and they provided excellent photo-specific maps and information for every step of the way... The Wachau Valley is world famous for it's wines but also offers a beautiful landscape and has a great cultural heritage. Spring is probably the best time to visit during the apricot season and Apricot Brandy is a speciality of the region. Make sure you try some !

I was only scheduled to be in Vienna for a short 4 days. Not nearly enough time to really immerse myself in the rich imperial city full of history, culture, music and good food. So it's quite a dilemma to decide to take out an entire day to get out of the city into the valley. But I'm glad I... More

We were on a river cruise and had the pleasure of going through the Wachau valley and visiting the Melk Abby. The countryside is so beautiful with all the little villages, the castles and the churches.

we did a one day tour with Marco Muzzi of Vienna Explorer and Marco did a great job explaining the various wines and processes and gave us the history of the Melk Abbey. Would recommend.

and so much else to do and see! Heurigen, great restaurants, culture at every corner. We took this time a hiking trip at the Welterbesteig, an easy trail from Krems to Dürnstein of approx. 12,5 km. Walking basically along the Danube through the wine yards...an amazing experience!
