Wonderful Day Out
Jul 2015 • Friends
Horseworld closed it's doors on its reception area back in early 2014 and I thought ,oh well thats over and done with. But no, what they have been trying to do is rescue more horses/ponies/mules and donkeys from terrible situations and have acres of land to keep them safe and secure and to bring them back to good health.
Four times a year they open their doors to the public, free of charge but a donation towards the upkeep of their work is much appreciated. They were open from 10 to 5 with good access to the horses/ponies/mules/donkeys and their stories by their stable doors. They had volunteers making tea and coffee, an ice cream van and a van selling burgers/hot dogs.
They also had demonstrations of the horses on long leash and lots of talks from the horses careers.
They are open to the public again in September 2015, so if you are interested go to their website for more information. Great fun for all the family and quite accessible.

So long and thanks for the Playbarn
Dec 2013 • Family
In the fall out of a dispute over selling land for housing to support the charity work, the visitors' centre has now closed. The grandkids always enjoyed a visit to the playbarn with its traditional and 'drop' slides. But there was never much else going for it as an attraction.

A sad note
Feb 2014 • Solo
The closure of this attraction, effective from 28 February 2014, has been announced by the Trustees.

A victim of economic circumstances and a failed planning application, my grandchildren will miss it as I will.

An enjoyable visit.
Dec 2013 • Family
At the end of my last review I said that we would be back when the weather was warmer. I never imagined that when we visited on the 29th of December that the weather would be warmer than it was on our first visit in April! Horseworld is an animal charity that rescue's, rehabilitate's and rehomes horses, pony's and donkeys that have been neglected, have reached the end of their working lives or their owners can no longer look after them. It is a worthy cause. As with our last visit the facilities were clean, neat and tidy and the housekeeping and general upkeep of the whole place was excellent. Since our last visit some changes have been made to the museum that have improved it. I liked the captions on the photographs and I was impressed with the leaflet "A History of Horseworld" that is available in the museum. Whoever wrote it did a good job, well done. We also found the labels on the loose boxes interesting and informative ( for instance, I didn't know that horses got Cushings disease - I know humans and dogs do). The gift shop was well stocked, neat and tidy and the staff had a good sense of humour. Our six year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed the play facilities. The only improvement I would suggest is the provision of automatic doors to enable disabled visitors easier access to the Visitor Centre. All in all, an enjoyable visit and a pleasant way to spend half a day.

Great half day out
Nov 2013 • Family
I visited this place recently, was smaller than I imagined it being but perfect for my two year old daughter. They have not only horses but a small selection of other farm animals too.
They also have a playground and a soft play area which is fab. My daughter really enjoyed herself and by the time we finished two and half after arriving it was just the right time before hmm daughter got bored and agitated.
Overall I thought it was a great place to visit and will hopefully return again.

A worthy cause and enjoyable day out
Nov 2013
I've got a deep passion for horse and always have. The work that HorseWorld does is something that I support wholeheartedly and I love to get the chance to visit. Today I visited with my Husband, Sister, Mum and two-year old Niece.

My Niece is often very shy but she really came out of her shell here, running around waving at the horse, talking to them and playing on the play equipment. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time here and I could easily have spent all day just wandering around and spending time with different horse. All of the staff are friendly and a real credit to the centre, especially as so many are volunteers.
