The falls are spectacular, and the track to the base of them is fairly easy, but if you put in the effort to get to the top you are rewarded with panoramic views over the Hauraki Plains

Probably should have built up to this with some easier walks!? Although I made it, I was steaming like a wet cow when I did! After a few days of rain, the falls were spectacular! I wore my "Red Bands" and was a clever cookie...More

I go up the falls often to exercise, as do many local people. This is truly worth the visit if your visiting Hobbiton and staying in or around Matamata

What a beautiful bush walk. Went with wife and two kids, aged 7 and 9. Both of them made it to the summit without any problems. The adults struggled more. Full of breathtaking views, caves, boulders and just natural beauty - this is a memorable...More

The road to the car park is easy. Its a straight shoot there from Matamata. You could walk to it, but that would take some time.

We really enjoyed Opal Hot Springs camping area, it's not too far from the falls. The falls were amazing, definitely go to the very top if you can, the views are spectacular :)
