Mt Taranaki can be on your travel bucket if you are visiting New Plymouth. A wonderful road trip to the mountain and beautiful walkway. Enjoyed a lot in the snow. Make sure you have the perfect gear for the hike. Dawson falls is a place of attraction and the walkway to the bottom of the falls is definitely one to... More

It had been raining and the sky was covered in heavy cloud when we arrived and it looked like we were going to miss seeing the the mountain. We walked to Dawson Falls which was lovely to see and well worth a visit even in the wet but just be careful as its a bit slippery under foot and on... More

It's places like this that makes me say "what a great country I live in". The road to Mt Taranaki is really nice and enjoyable. But once you get to the place, it's even better. Be sure to take lots of food because there aren't many places to dine or its expensive. If you are on a budget then there... More

Mount Taranaki / Egmont is an incredible walk. Best to start early(ish) in the morning and you'll start to see sunrise as you climb - which also means you'll be on the way down as it starts to get hot. Definitely not the easiest of climbs but the panoramic view at the top is well worth it. Check weather reports... More

all we managed to do was just to see a view of this...so we drove down route 3 toward STratford. The day before it was overcast and all we could see was the smaller mountain north of it, but the next day dawned blue and clear and this thing is gorgeous. Dormant volcano, Pacific Ocean right there, visible from the... More

This mountain is a trampers paradise with many tramping and bush walks to choose from. From a sunday stroll to the serious snow mountain climber, this mountain has it all.

Simply breathtaking, the Pacific Ocean nee Tasman Sea on side and the Snow capped mountain in the middle, sits like a shining jewellery. so Pictueresque. The local museum provided a lot of knowledge re early settlers, the drive along the bay is magical. The snow capped mountain though, thats the cherry on the top

We drove into this national park just wanting to find a better view of this incredible snow capped mountain. The road is very narrow but worth the effort. The trees into the park were shaped in an archway for kilometres. Fantastic atmosphere & highly unusual. The display was very professional. After advise from the ranger on what walk to take... More
