With the sun rays from the east, you get the best pictures in the morning at this secluded cove. No tourists, just you & the beach.
Actually, there are 2 coves within walking distance...pick your favorite!

We went to see Childer Cove, but on the way stopped to see a path on Childer Cove Road. It led us to Sandy Cove, not far from Childer Cove. The approach road is sandy and when we reached the beach, we were stunned by the views - the rock formation eroded over decades and a lagoon. Later we went to Childer Cove, another stunning place, but unfortunately the stair was closed, so we could not go the sea shore. Saw the Childer Cove from the top.
Both Childer and Sandy coves are magnificent, but we were more impressed by Sandy Cove, which is not on any tourist map. A must place to see when on Great Ocean Road.

Like the rest of this stretch of coastline it is both beautiful and dangerous. Swimming is not advised but I think you’d be pretty safe to paddle. The waves can come right up the base of the steps so be careful of being cut off. Gorgeous colour to the cliffs - they have a real orange hue that contrasts beautifully with the water. There is access to three bays from this car park area each with beautiful views and a few stone stacks but Childer’s was my favourite.

A great day trip from Terang to have morning tea, but stayed a lot longer to have lunch
A little windy but rugged up and well worth the trip. Will definitely be going back again, when we get out of the Covid Lock down

Located in a hidden corner and not on the actual Great Ocean Road this amazing spot is often overlooked by tourists. Shame because it’s one of the best spots on the coast. Easy walk down the stairs to an amazing beach with huge rocky features surrounding it

A little off the beaten track and you need to watch the waves and tides because it isn't patrolled but it is a beautiful beach that doesn't get crowded. Well worth the extra drive.

Turn off easily visible on the Great Ocean Road but then need to take the service road not as well signed. Lots of sticky flies so keep your mouth closed! Beautiful cove with strong current. Felt like we were in Hanauma Bay in Hawaii just with a rougher surf. Great secluded beach with a number of steps to get down to beach level.

This place is the perfect location for travellers who want to get away from the crowds along the ocean road! We were in the Cove with 2 other families! That’s it! Beautiful location - there are steps so prams aren’t appropriate!

After running the gauntlet with busloads of tourists at the popular stops along the great ocean road it was great to get some time out here, and practically have the spot to ourselves. The walk down to the beach was not too hard, and well worth it. There is toilet at this spot but best to avoid it if you can.
