Nobody I know had any knowledge about this amazing place. We almost did not walk to it because it only looked like a small rock. Little did we know we will end up to see such an impressive volcano, on romanian territory. Totally worth it. A few meters away you can see the Emerald Lake which is also amazing.

Very nice area. You can get there by train or by car. You can sped easily a half day there. You can visit the Volcano and then go around following the hill line and you can get a nice view of the lake The Emerald Lake.. Then go down at the lake.
Amazing quiet place with a calm energy.

Really nice place to visit, for small ones and parents as well! Accessible by car as well as on foot, worth visiting near the sunset!

entrance ticket is 20 RON, and this allows you to visit 4 sites
3 within the geological complex
- Racos Volcano
- Emerald Lake
- Basalt Column
and 1 about 5 min drive away, the Sukosd-Bethlen Castle.
it will take a min of 2 hours to do all. i think the experience is fine, but can be skipped if there are higher priority activities

If you visit this area, you have 4 attractions: The Emerald Lake and The Basalt Columns, a few minutes drive from Racos. Then there is the Racos Volcano, very close to the lake and columns and then you should not miss the Sükösd-Bethlen Castle. Unfortunately, the "castle" has not been fully restaured but it is interesting to see, as it has been built in the 1600's.

Area also includes The basalt Columns and The smarald Lake. An incredible place to visit and from the top you can see the small hungarian village, Racos. You can book at Casa Anna, from Racos, a great traditional place, close to volcanos, lake or columns. In the village you can see also the castle Sukosd Bethlen. The domain where the castle was built ,in 18 th cent, belonged to Gabriel Bethlen who gave it to count ( grof in hungarian) Sukosd. After years the villagers bought the castle. I highly reccommend the area, especially for the food, the people and memories.

In a 2 hour long walk you can enjoy the extinct volcano (and walk into its crater), the emerald lake and the basalt columns. An amazing experience deep into nature, definitely suggested!

Racos Volcano is a trip package which include Emerald lake, basalt columns and the volcano. Don't expect some incredible volcano . Is a small, extinct volcano, but a nice point to visit and walk.

When it rains it’s not that great beacuse ut’s kind of muddy but all in all it was a nice expetience. You will not see many signs on the road but it’s easy to find, you just have to follow the road.
