Good place for a Indian visitor
This place marks the present LAC of India-China boarder. The place is at high altitudes and relatively cold. The area is controlled by Indian army and the guide well during the visit and brief you about the history and importance of this place. It is surrounded by mountains and one can see the chinesse side of territory as well standing from the Indian side.

    15200 feet above sea level
Bumla pass is the line of actual control (LAC) between India and China. It is under control of Indian army. About 15200 feet from sea level, it is quite cold. No photo is allowed there. You can travel there only by vehicle which have Arunachal registration. You need a pass which can easily be got if you tell the hotel where you are staying. (Need aadhar card). They tell you about the 1962 Indo - China war and my heart was filled with pride. Their sacrifice and courage is unmatched. There is an army canteen where u can eat and buy some souvenirs

Its important to realise that you are not allowed to go here unless you are Indian or anywhere near it either though no reason is given. You need to get an Inner Line permit to go to Tawang in the first place and that costs A$30 plus paperwork, then it's a scary 12 hour drive in a Sumo from Tezpur or 14 hours from Guwahati in Assam. When we couldn't go to Bum La, we chose a tribal village two day trip instead and that was great.

...You are touching the clouds through Bumla Pass enroute Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. The mountaineous "Pollution Free" zone is extremely cold in October-November, but thescenic beauty surpasses the chattering cold. October is the "rush hour" traffic of turists mainly from Guwhati, Assam.

Snow filled place with snow capped mountain is the best way to explain Bumla pass. Salute to Indian army for doing their duty and protect our country from enemies. The experience of seeing them working in such tough weather condition is absolutely commendable and must watch for every Indian. No word is enough to explain the beauty of the place. Just splendid.

You can drive your personal car only if the car belongs in your name else you will not be issued permission. Local Taxi Union will create issue as per the DC. Local Taxi will charge you Rs. 5500/- .. They start by 7.30am and come back by 1.30pm and rest time depends on you. Roads are in very good shape actually hats off to the BRO and Army.

Tawang is the Town of Indo-China Border and Bumla Pass (The Border) is 45 km away and the Road is bumpy. Wonderful place to visit. We have to apply for a Permit/ Pass to go there and better apply in advance.

Army will greet you with tea, samosa(paid). During our visit in March, it was heavy snowfall. Army personnel takes you upto the border and will brief you. You will also see the chinese troops standing hardly at 500m. It was an awesome thrilling experience. Must Must visit in Arunachal.
