Very peacefull monestry top of the bomdila town ....i love the valley from monestry court yard .It was built by the 12th reincarnate of Tsong Gontse Rinpoche. This monastery belongs to Mahayana Buddhism. It is also known as the Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Lling monastery. It is a replica of the Tsona Gontse monastery at Tsona in Tibet.

Though Tawang Monastery is the largest & world famous monastery but I liked most the Bomdila Monastery at the base of its nice position, good architectural view & its beautiful surroundings. After visiting this monastery, I think every one will be impressed. Must visit the point.

Bomdila is a beautiful hill town , 8000 ft. above the sea level from where one can see the brilliant landscape and snow-clad mountains of the Himalayan Range. At Gontse Gaden Rabgye Ling ,Buddist monastery of Bomdilla ,a guest house,Doe-Gu-Khil is availbale for stay.On the way to Tawang from Tejpur ,we stayed for a night at this guest house and the stay was ever remembered.Morning we enjoyed the pleasant weather and the nice view of the monastery and himalayas. For a change while returning , from Tawang we stayed at Dirrang.

A beautiful monastery situated among mountains and greenery. Young lamas stay here for the learning about Buddhism in the boardings. You can see them running with utensils in their hand for breakfast / lunch. Seeing these young lamas in their red robes in all the age groups - staying away from the families they were born into and taking up their religious duties fills the heart with different feeling - so unlike their counterparts on other cities and towns. A friendly lama in his twenties briefed us about the routines and disciplined life they are required to follow. It was so humbling an experience.

Located on elevated area, fantastic view of valley below is a sacred place, also known as Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Lling Monastery, pristine surroundings, vibrant colours and a sacred prayer hall, as this is a place of worship one should follow the decency and appropriate behaviour. Shoes are not allowed inside the prayer hall, not to be missed by any traveller, as this Monastery is in Arunachal Pradesh, an Inner Line Permit is required even for Indian citizens.

Entry was restricted due to covid19, on our special request we were permitted to enter. Major portion of Monastery was closed for renovation. Situated in the town itself you don't need much time to travel.

Are travellers allowed to stay here? And how much would a two night stay come up to?
Written April 16, 2018
Yes they have the rooms for guests. I am not aware of the charges. However these may not be very high. I am also not sure about the food service. The monastery is not a walking distance from city.
